will there be any problems with the next series due to sochi - professionals they cant have that they would ususally have and/or other bits and pieces and how might they get round them if it is necessary to do so of course. it may of course being already planned for but your thoughts are welcomed anyway- please be nice thanks

None of the pros are competitive skaters so no issues there (if they were they wouldn't be allowed to take part in Dancing On Ice anyway & they probably wouldn't as they would be taking part in other comps like the Euros, Worlds.

Robin missed a couple of weeks in 2010 when he was commentating for the BBC on Vancouver & I guess that may be an issue again - they had guest judges whilst he was off.

None of the pros are anywhere near World/Olympic standard, so there's no worry about losing them to other commitments. Even if they were, ISU eligibility rules would not allow them to compete in ISU competition and appear on DOI at the same time.

Imagine if they could though! Would love to see Maxim Trankov on Dancing on Ice (yes, I know I'm dreaming.)

Ooh yes! His Swan Lake program from last year was all I could think of during Matt's routine this week

Presumably Robin will disappear from the panel for two weeks - and that's about it.

Of course given the distance to Sochi (its not exactly glamourous) its possible his commentary could be done from London. So it might not be an issue if there is no skating on the relevant Sundays.

As a curling fan - the only sport where GB stands a chance of medalling - I am quite looking forward to the event.

Am sure the BBC will be doing commentary from Sochi - according to the calendar on Wiki there is figure skating on the first 2 Sundays of the games.

And I would say that Team GB have great chances for medals in the Bobsleigh (especially Skeleton) & Short Track Speed skating.

I think Shelly Rudman & Elise Christie would disagree with you there http://www.thesportreview.com/tsr/20...-championship/

That being said the skaters that appear in DOI are all retired & apart from Todd Sand (World medallist - Series 1 with Kelly Holmes) & Nina Ulanova (World Junior Champion - last series with Matt), none of them made it completely to the top in amateur ranks, although I do remember seeing a number of them skate at Euros & Worlds - see their competitive records here http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vicky_Ogden#section_1

I think the Olympics will have the same effect on DOI as the forthcoming soccer world cup in Brasil will have on Wycombe Wanderers' fixture list

The show might be axed after this series so the Winter Olympics won't affect it at all.
