Thermal protection doesn't always work for a start and to have something fry or blow up does NOT require it to be dropped or damaged in some way!!! One component failing is all it can take.
You would have thought the thermal protection on my HP laptop charger would have stopped it going bang. It didn't.
Also why would the OP provide pictures? Is this because its apple and for some reason you cant see past them so refuse to believe it happened without pictures? I guess we need on here now to provide picture for every failed device?
