I spoke to him last summer, looking quite frail now, but his mind is still razor sharp.
Nice man and very friendly - a true legend.

Tours constantly and does gigs that last around 5-6 hours.

I know someone who was at one of his shows late last year. The second half didn't even begin until gone 11pm. As has been said, he is quite frail now, and doesn't tour as much as he used to, but when he does, they go on for as long as ever!

I saw him live last month.

He had a terrible chest, very wheezy.

Having said that, he performed for about three hours and finished at 1:10 am!

Interesting old clip of him from 1975, here. A bit cringey when that woman in just a bikini came on, at the five minute mark-and the joke at 11.10, that a man's told a woman Gary Glitter's his brother, to impress her, now looks very outdated!

I've read he saves money by, for Diddymen in his shows, getting drama kids to play them for free.

IIRC he (more accurately his barrister) more or less hinted during his trial that he was so ill he could die at any time. How long ago is that now?

That was twenty three years ago, when Doddy was sixty-two.

You can just imagine his QC: 'Behold, a man in the decline of life. Mr Dodd is now in his early sixties. At this age, in his condition, he is likely to pass away at some point during the next thirty-five years!'

The barrister was the late George Carmen QC, who was famous for that sort of thing. Essentially, his line of defence to the jury during the trial was: "Yes, he's guilty of tax offences, but don't you just love him?" It worked!
