Cross, who lives in Wellington, has written two episodes of the upcoming season of Doctor Who alongside showrunner Steven Moffat and Neil Gaiman. He is in line to write a New Zealand set episode after Sir Peter Jackson accepted an invitation to direct an episode from the show's lead Matt Smith issued in a Waikato Times interview.

Fantastic if true but the words grain and salt spring to mind.

I hadn't realised Cross had been commenting on the Peter Jackson/Matt Smith thing and thought the idea of connecting him to it with him writing a New Zealand based episode was something new.

Now it looks more like the latest article just took stuff from the previous ones.

Taking the Tardis to Mordor would have saved some bother. I don't know why Gandalf didn't use his. He regenerated in the second film, transforming dramatically from a smelly old man in a grey cloak to a smelly old man in a white cloak. But had no idea where he'd left his travel capsule.

At least in these times of sparse info, the articles take the talk of NZ/Oz filming out of the realm of rumour and into the realm of discussed possibility.

An indoor jungle in the Tardis ? or another Mara episode ? their mind games would give lots of scope for previous Doctor appearances.
