I've come to the conclusion I'm pretty awful at gaming
Sure, I play all the silly games, like Modern Warfare and FIFA, but I either don't play them enough to be any good, or I'm just crap at gaming.
Single player stuff - no problem, but mutliplayer.... Any decent multiplayer games out there that are a good laugh and not full of serious gamers? I want to have a laugh, as opposed to getting frustrated about being cannon fodder

I'm not very good at MW3 mostly come last but I have fun trying to take the enemy out in different ways. I've had some fun games when using the riot shield. |

As I've got older, I have less time to play games, therefore will always be crap compared to those who invest a lot of time gaming.
I play games for enjoyment and couldn't care less how good I am. If the likes of COD online is full of seasoned gamers, I tend to give it a miss - not much point in getting fragged every 10 seconds. I'm crap at golf, but I still play cos' I enjoy it. I'm pretty naff at music production, too. You don't have to be good at something in order to enjoy it. |

The key is to not take it too seriously.
I get spanked all the time in online games, i have, on rare occasion, received messages after games telling me how i was 'pwned' or 'schooled'. My 'K/D' in Call of Duty games gets worse with every installment, I struggle to get past Division 4 in Fifa games and my times in racing games can be matched by elderly folk on mobility scooters.Do I get pissed? All the time, it's part of being a gamer, but sometimes i take a break for perspective. I have a decent job,a beautiful wife, two fantastic children and a nice home and car. If some 19 year old 230 miles away sat in his pyjamas in his moms bedroom has 'pwned' me then so be it;he can take all the online achievements he wants. The only way to be sure of getting in a none serious game is to hook up with some friends or people you know online and play private matches or lobbies. I'm fortunate enough to know several people that own an Xbox as well as Xbox Live. We often play games of poker in which we just talk sh** for hours on end while no one seems to take notice of all the chips we're losing or play co-op games in which not one of us will be trying to do the main objectives often team killing each other for a laugh. |

You don't have to be good at games to enjoy them though. I like shooters (COD mostly) and I suck ass at them but it's all good fun lol. We all have our good and bad games. I remember one game I had where it was nearly all quick scoper's and I got owned big time. Think I died around 40+ times in that game
but it didn't put me off playing the game as I prefer multi-player games. It's just a far better experience imo.

I'm the same. Single player is no problem even on the harder settings. But online I'm awful. Only game I was really good at online was Killzone 2. I am terrible at COD though.

That's the point, I'm not.
He4rt's comment was excellent, but I'm too competitive to "enjoy losing" all the time. I know that's a poor reflection on myself ;D But my call for help is the potential someone's found a multiplayer that they've found to be more fun. Best suggestion so far is the Poker one, but if there's any "games".....I know it's probably an impossible ask. |

OP can you give us some sort of ideas of game types you like and dislike IE FPS, Driving, RPG?
Some of the games I have enjoyed in multiplayer are Blur, Burnout Paradise, COD4 Modern Warfare. |

I can totally sympathise, but, when you do make that kill in multiplayer (especially if it's an old hand you've done) there's not many a sweeter buzz!!
Of course he then comes back and kills you a gazillion times...but it is so worth it! |

For me I'd only say Metal Gear Online, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Red Dead Redemption and Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood are the multiplayers I've enjoyed over a prolonged period of time. But for me enjoyment in a multiplayer comes as much from the games you play as your own performance in the games. I'd much rather be in a game with two evenly matched teams where you don't know what's going to happen, than a predictable one sided game where you outplay every opponent. Of course if you can get a really even game where your performance makes the difference, well that's where things becomes really enjoyable. |

I used to think I was the mutts nuts at games when I was younger (before online). I could beat any of my friends and family no bother. I was literally invincible with a games controller in my paws.
Then along came the wrld of online gaming and I was swiftly brought down to earth. It doesn't matter how good you are at a game, there's a million other people who will be better than you. Be it that they have way too much time on their hands, or just that they're better than you, So much so that I don't really play online that much. That, and I have a nice few real people to play with these days, so I can feel my invincibility coming back. So you're probably not pretty awful at gaming, you'll never be no 1 at any of them, because you probably have a life. |

) I remember going into Counterstrike and most of the time the aim of the game was the first person to kill me! When I managed to kill someone I could hear online dorks sniggering at that person. ![]() I'm kind of new to FPS and so don't have much practice and I'm not overly keen. I'm really enjoying FC3 and I've got better but if I went online I'd get ripped to shreds! My advice would be to practice and practice if you really want to get good enough. These "champions" probably do nothing more than play games all day and night. Or their Japanese. Whenever I've been matched with someone from Japan in a game I have no chance in the slightest! |

Riot shield is so much fun - underrated. Especially if you have an opponent with one too - It's like you're dancing with them. Totally agree about keeping it fun. Don't get obsessed by stats, find a good group to play with. Run and gun used to be my style, but I got shot down too often. A change to a more considered gamestyle meant I survived longer, but not quite as much fun. |

I'm a rubbish gamer full stop. Single player or multi player it doesn't matter I'm rubbish, I die in games a lot.
I don't buy COD anymore, I don't buy any game for multi player. At least on single player I can lower the difficulty if needs be. I get my satisfaction from surprising myself with the occasional flash of gaming magic. Gaming is an individual thing, enjoy what you do and don't feel inferior, its a game after all. |

Try Battlefield, bad players can really excel in a support roll in that game.
The other thing I would say is try not to be predictable, the amount of times I see people going to same way every life is crazy, if you have moved down the left side of the map 3 or 4 times and keep been killed try a different route. If you movements are predictable a good player will have a reasonable idea where you are in the level at all times. |

I just can't understand why games like COD don't make a proper effort to put similar-skilled players together. Must put so many people off, when any time they attempt to journey online that get killed literally every 10 seconds.
