Let's start tonight's show with our first theme.
The Lucky Dip involved the judges being given a random selection of songs to choose for their acts to perform tonight from last week's Radio 1 Official Top 40. Up first to perform her Lucky Dip song, it's the first of Connor's Boys & Young Adults, it's the U.S. R&B Queen who's still in a head to head battle against Diamond White for the title of Top U.S. 2012 Act.... it's Paige Thomas http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKgOq2Ut5Gk |

Naruto's comments: Paige Thomas
Paige, i have to be honest and say i was not entirely convinced of that performance. Your vocals were good and it was not predictable but for me it felt like it went no where. I think the theme may have proven to be difficult so i understand the limitations. I hope your next performance is better though. Pingu's comments: Paige Thomas Paige I thought that was just beautiful. The vocals were amazing and you really showed a different side to you, and showed you are going to be a great recording artist. It was verging on boring, but you were going to have to sing a song like that one day. Well done!! |

I saw the song choice and I thought WTF; however it is lucky dip so that can't really be levelled at you or Connor. However then you started and it was such a departure from what you've sung before that I was captivated. You've been criticised recently for taking the easy road and being a bit predictable, however I think that song and arrangement was anything but. I don't think it was your best performance, however it was good to get a curve ball from you in this competition and for me that deserves some praise so well done. I look forward to seeing what else your second performance brings tonight. |

Paige, what a way to start tonight's show. The theme was particularly hard, so I was very interested when I found this song choice for you. It was completely different to any of your previous performances but you completely nailed it. The vocals were sweet, soft and you have a beautiful tone to your voice. Absolutely delightful performance from you. I urge the viewers to save you.

I liked that tonight. The vocals were nice, soft and clear but I didn't really get the nice smooth rnb feeling that I normally get from you. It felt more of an audition, than a live show 6 performance in a weird way. A good audition though. I look forward to your next performance

A generally positive group of comments on Paige tonight, but will we see her again on the next show? That's your decision. Lines open after all seven contestants have performed their first songs!
Our next act is the final remaining Group in the competition who are fiercely fighting to win it - it's Union J! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJ0iDoHMQY8 |

Er boys, I thought that was a great performance overall. There's always that one in most boybands that shines the most when it comes to vocals and I felt at least 2 of you were upstaged tonight. Its the blend in your voices I wanted to hear more of. The song choice was really good I have to say, and the girls surely loved it. Great performance

Naruto's Comments: Union J
I think you covering Justin Bieber was a risk as it did not focus much on the vocals. I did not think it was a good performance, and definitely not the best we have seen from you. Overall, it was not my cup of tea but again i understand the limitations of the theme. Pingu's comments: Union J JJ, george, Jaymi and Josh WOW!! That was incredible, the vocals were on point and you really had fun with an upbeat song that showed you were enjoying it on stage. Justin Bieber should be watching outt, because you just made his song 10x better!! |

Union J, I'm not competely won over with that performance I'm afraid. It was ok, but I don't think it was quite right for you. It came across as a tad cheesy at times and I don't feel it was your strongest vocals. It was a nice arrangement but I don't think you should be singing Justin Bieber songs. It was a tinsy bit dull as well. I hope to see a better second performance from you.

Did Union J win you over with their rendition of Beauty and a Beat? If they did, make sure you vote for them when the lines open!
Our third act is the first of the two remaining Overs, it's country babe Carolynne Poole http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6LeWAGfEu4 |

Guys, I know it's been difficult for you; one mentor missing last week's show (when you needed them most) and now a new mentor, however that was a massive improvement from last week. It was young, fun and showed of your vocals perfectly. It was also good to see you having some fun on stage, unlike last week which was just bad. You managed to get through last week and you're the last group standing; you've come back strong and I think that performance should see you through to the next round. I hope you deliver too with your next song as I think you're back in the competition in a big way. |

I knew it wouldn't be long till we heard a Taylor Swift song from you . That was quite predictable. But having said that, I can see the song suiting you..... and I think that might've been....er... note perfect! Well Done

Naruto's comment: Carolynne Poole
I thought it was a good performance tonight Carolynne. The song choice was good and you sang it great. On some parts, you were a bit flat but overall a great performance for me! Pingu's comment: Carolynne Poole Carolynne I really wanted to enjoy that performace and even though it was lucky dip, I thought I was going to fall to sleep. The vocals were great but it just seemed repetitive. I hope your other song really picks up, because if it doesnt I think you could be in trouble tonight as your song said. |

Carolynne Poole
I think we struck lucky with that song choice in lucky dip for you; it was totally up you're street and you performed it beautifully. The last few shows we have seen a completely different side to you, you've tackled more uptempo songs and showed your versatility. This however was much more in your country comfort zone and you completely killed it. The vocals were superb, the emotion was brilliant and I think it was one of your strongest performances in the show. Please remember that no one is safe and Carolynne needs you're (high) votes too; please, please vote for her when the lines open. |

Carolynne. I am one of your biggest fans but tonight I don't feel was your strongest performance. The song choices were limited, and overall it was a good pick for you. However, I was a tad dissapointed with the arrangement. I would of loved to have seen you perform a more uptemp style of performance instead of bringing it down to a slow ballad. The vocals were sweet, soft and nice but It just didn't go anywhere for me. Having say that, your one of the strongest acts left in the competition so I hope too see a brilliant performance from you in the next round.

Carolynne was given an iconic Taylor Swift song, but does country doing country work? It's up to you! Make sure you vote for Carolynne if you want to see her through to the next round!
Now to the second of the Boys & Young Adults - it's Adam Burridge! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IMMTESnYtw |

Adam, you've had a couple of touch shows; either criticised for being safe or the songs completely not suiting you. Like Paige, I saw the song choice and thought What the? However that was absolutely fantastic! A reworking of a dance/ r'n'b song and shaped into you're comfort zone. It was my favourite performance of yours for quite some time and I think you're now right back in the competition. It was a brave and bold song choice and a brave arrangement and I commend Connor for taking the risk. Risks are always difficult to judge; if they fail then it's usually curtains, when it pays off it really makes you take more notice of the artist and for me that totally paid off. |

Naruto's comments: Adam Burridge
I did not like that performance Adam. It was a risk tackling Will.I.Am but for me it did not work. It for me was a bit too mellow so i would have preferred a different arrangement. This was definitely not your best performance but i hope you can pull it off. Pingu's comments: Adam Burridge Adam when I saw this song choice, I thought finally an upbeat song. But no, you made it exactly the same as every other week. I understand it`s lucky dip, so I`ll let you off. Like I said to carolynne, if your other song isn`t better, you are in trouble!! |
