Although I love West Indian and Thai curries I can't stand Indian food and I've tried many, many different dishes over the years. I've even had Asian friends cook for me so I can try more authentic Indian food but I hated it all. Even the smell makes me gag sometimes.
I dont understand how people can like other spicy food but not indian. Indian food is only spice after all. What is it you dont like specifically?
You like Chinese, do you like Thai?
Never tried it either. Guess I live a sheltered life lol. Maybe as you guys say, maybe i've just never come across the right restaurant yet. Might make hubby open his wallet and take me to one soon.

We usually get chicken pakora, chicken tikka or tandoori chicken on the bone. You can't go wrong there.

I love Indian food but not all of it, some dishes I just don't enjoy. The OP needs keep trying different dishes if she wants to acquire a taste for Indian food, if she's not that bothered then don't try.
I love good Chinese food but most of the slops the average take away dish up I'd not feed my dogs. |

People keep citing that they dont like hot & spicy food so dont like Indian, but there are a range of dishes in Indian cooking that are mild with little to no spice at all.

This is definitely true, my family are Indian and I can count on one hand the number of 'outside' places we eat Indian food from. It's normally always Nans cooking that we eat.

I like my curry to be punchy and flavourful but not over powering in non spice flavour. For the same reason I don't like Korma. It's just hot yoghurt for me. No spice and a rather unpleasant consistancy. I love curries like Madras and Balti and Jalfrezi.. And whilst Tikka Masala is similar to Korma it has a much more pleasant texture and taste. For those who find spice a bit much Tikka Masala is probably a good place to start. You may also like to try Chinese Curry or Bombay Potatoes. |

Definitely agree. It's not the spice with Indian food my wife doesn't like. She will eat pretty spicy Chinese food but can't stand anything Indian.

I had a chicken poori (a kind of savoury bread pancake, stuffed with tikka pieces and a hot sauce/coriander/onions etc) last night, my god, there is sometimes a price to pay the following morning. Think- sting and jam jar circumference...

I love some Indian dishes but can't stand others. I'm not keen on onion so avoid dishes which use lots. I usually buy spices and powders and make my own curries but i always prefer a good takeaway although i am lucky that where i live has a choice of very good ones!

The green curries I have had and that I make are thinner than a 'regualr' curry. They also use thai green chillies which can have quite a kick. It should be overly sweet as the sweetness is there to balance out the saltyness of the fish sauce and the sourness of the tararinde and lime. |

I'm not a fan of Indian curries I've been to a few restaurants but always find the curries swimming in oil.
I prefer west Indian curries . |
