my ex ran up a £3500 bill on his work phone in 1 month - mix of updating facebook via messages rather than via the site, uploading photos and tethering to a laptop. Needless to say his company weren't too happy! No warning came either from the supplier - just noticed when the bill came through to the company. So it is possible (if rather stupid )

When the bill was issued Orange had calculated the amount used correctly - but had used that same figure as the amount to be paid (e.g. 304.8876MB data use would have been applied as £304.89, if you follow me) despite it all being within an inclusive allowance. To this day I don't know how they managed to do that, and despite the first CSR on 150 who I duly reported it to saying "oh yes, that's quite obviously wrong isn't it?" had hell of a time getting it resolved.

Quite right - bear in mind that Orange's systems don't update in real time though, so the responses given when using this method to check allowances could be up to 48 hours out of date.”

I have seen this too, the Data charges are sometimes a bit odd. There seems to be a conflict with how they are billed sometimes. £1/Day, Price Per MB, and even that changes depending on tariff, or what you took the plan out since the same tariff name can have different versions!

Yeah I know up to 48Hours, although in my experience most are updated within 24 They do need to get real time updates, surely can't be that hard to do. I've noticed the data usage meter on my iPhone change before though, and actually go DOWN from what it was previously. no doubt a glitch. Only reliable way to keep track is by asking Orange how much it is you've used really, and resetting your data meter on the phone on the bill date - and as long as they are roughly in line you'll keep yourself and them right. If the phone is saying 500MB and Orange are saying 5GB, then you know something is up straight away.
