Able to unlock a phone in contract
I have 3 months left on my O2 contract.
For the last few months my signal in my house has been really poor. A text will take hours to send and I have to walk around my house with my phone. My query is can I get my phone unlocked whilst still in contract so I can put a Virgin sim in it whilst in the house and then swap it back to an O2 sim whilst I'm out? Would I be able to have the same number on both sims? I would ask O2 these questions but can't get through to them. |

Yes they will unlock it while you are still in contract. I think you can just request it online (Not done it for a while). It did cost £15 when I did it...
I don't think you can use the same number on both sims. |

https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?...locking%20Form
Fill that out and they will either unlock it remotely (if it's an iPhone and possibly some others) or email you with an unlocking code |

No way of having the same number on both sims. If you have sufficient minutes you could set up a divert on your O2 sim to divert calls to your virgin number when you are using it although you would lose inclusive minutes any time you receive a call if you did that

3 months huh, sounds like 3 months too long!
Get it unlocked while you can, then when you leave them you can enjoy your phone with a good signal |

Ok. Thanks for the replies I think I will just pay for 2 contracts and move over to Virgin.
Will I be able to swap my number to my Virgin sim whilst I'm still paying O2 for 3 months? |

You could request a PAC code from O2 now however you would be required to pay the remaining 3 months as an early termination fee
My husband is getting a virgin sim sent out so that should be here today. His o2 contract finished last month. If he's happy with that I will just pay the early termination fee and swap myself. |
