Need replacement boombox aerial - how do I work out the size?

I want to install a new aerial for my father-in-laws Phillips AZ102S boombox radio and CD player because the old one was snapped off. I know you can get replacment aerials because I got one for another radio years ago.

But despite searching the net, I can't find the specs for this model's aeriel i.e. size, so that I can order a new one online. The Phillops website doesn't give it. Anyone now what I should measure on the old one to make sure I get one which fits?

How about getting the correct one as a Philips spare part?.

If you go here

http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/level5/mo...cpc/253190.xml

You'll see an image of the end of the aerial where it connects to the radio. The dimensions of this part are important for determining if the aerial will fit. And on the main page are three other important dimensions

http://cpc.farnell.com/unbranded/ta3...d0203/dp/APTA3

These are the length when retracted, length when extended and diameter of the widest section.

So using those dimensions you should be able to find one that fits. That is assuming the aerial can be changed. The types linked to above use a screw to attach to the base part on the radio. These are the types that you can swivel the aerial from vertical to horizontal and rotate 360 degrees. However some types are fixed, they don't swivel or rotate and can be harder to replace.
