I have a Bose lifestyle 48 system with the VS2 connected to it as well,I've bought an Apple TV but had no sound coming through so I've taken the optical cable from the sky hd box and connected it to the Apple TV now the sound works fine unfortunately there's now no sound when I want to watch sky I don't want to have to keep swapping the optical cable back and forward between the two does anyone know how I can get sound from both ?

You need something like this

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Optical-Swit.../dp/B001U4H13Y

This includes the cables you need.

If having to get out of the comfy armchair to switch sources doesn't appeal then try something like this

The first one looks perfect but it says it will not work with sky boxes

There are several switches that look very similar to the manual one in the first link. And it seems there can be some variation in quality. So it can be a bit of a nightmare finding one that works.

Anyway from what I have seen on the interweb you don't need a switch at all. The Bose system appears to have no less than four coaxial digital inputs on the back if I've found the right unit. And there could well be a coaxial digital output on the Sky box. So why not use that method instead?

I bought a digital coaxial cable from maplins and gave it a try directly from the sky box to the Bose and it works a treat which leaves the optical free to go from the Apple TV to the Bose so no converter needed
