He's being a bit diplomatic in saying that it all coincided with Ste coming out, when that wasn't the case at all. The clothes might have been earlier, but the loss of character coincided with Stug.

I think mostly people liked the cutesy nature of the relationship. Let's be honest, there wasn't much depth to it really
outside of the Brendan element. The best part of the storyline was Doug's struggle at the start. I shouldn't be so frank
I still think PJ and Kieron did the best they could but it's reassuring to know they both acknowledge the mistake it was for their characters. But hey, you live and learn and it's not as though it was their choice.

Me and my Mum watched it and obviously at this point Kieron hadn't come out, but we always thought he was gay. We used to say Jason didn't like him because he was a gay guy who didn't use his sexuality as his personality. And that he was jealous

As far as I can remember, he was still in trackies in autumn 11. His clothes and hair changed radically in jan 12. Along with everyone's personality.
