Hot sandwich makers
I love bean toasties but am also slightly into toasted sandwiches. Can anyone recommend a really good sandwich/toastie maker please

I've had a Breville one for years - I don't use it much now as I love toasties far too much!
![]() Most are pretty good these days - but I'd go for a deeper one which I think I've seen around, plus consider if you want to make 1,2 or 4 at a time as well. Sorry I can't think of the brand of the deeper one I've seen - I'm sure some one here will help.

Waring copes with deep fill sandwiches. It has removable plates so it's easy to clean in the dishwasher.

we use a panini type toaster - i think it's a John Lewis one. it doesn't seal the edges. you can put any shaped bread in. It has a heavy top plate that compresses gradually.
I doubt if you could use baked beans, but it does a greast job on everything else |

I use my George Foreman, as I don't want to clog my kitchen up with loads and loads of gadgets. It works really well. Even gives the attractive lines on the sandwich.

Wow - that toastie maker looks and sounds fab ... and i want one.
I love a toasted sarnie, and i do use a Breville one. BUT, it now looks really manky as you cant clean the blummin thing. I try, and all i do is smear the grease around. |

I love toasted sandwiches but the the trouble i've found with all sandwich makers are that you have to wait ages for them to cool down otherwise the fillings are like molten lava and burn the hell out of my mouth!

That looks more like what I would call a panini press.

...are kinda cool - got two in a cupboard somewhere that come out every few months. Heat directly from a gas hob, then throw into the washing bowl |

I used to have a breville but the bread would get stuck or cheese would leak out and it was murder to clean

I actually like the cheese burning, it adds taste. I tend to only buy cheap ones, atm we have a Sainsburies basics (cost about £5) and is perfect for my needs. Does a fantastic cheese and tomato chutney toastie, and burns the escaped cheese to perfection!

![]() Works perfectly though and just needs a wipe down with a kitchen towel to clean. |
