Thing is hes right tracking is dodgy on those VHS recorders. Many a times I remember buying a retail VHS video out of woolworths and the tracking was sh*t. |

Not only are pirated copies often perfect (if they source a DVD or something HD, its the same quility), but you never get them annoying un-skipable adds either. Same with video games, the legal versions often have DRM (things that get in the way of playing the game) whilst the pirated copy doesnt have any such problems. I remember buying Grand Theft Auto 4 for PC on steam, and I had to install 4 other applications and set up two more accounts just to play. So I downloaded a copy of a torrent site just so I could play without any issues. I already paid for the game so no harm, I just wanted to play the damn thing. |

A higher definition picture doesn't make a film with a boring storyline or crap acting any better.

What if they changed their tact slightly?
"If you buy a pirate DVD, you probably have a very small penis. ....and are crap in bed". |

Surely at the end of the day most people would have to admit that buying a pirated copy of anything be it a DVD a CD or even a pair of jeans is illegal, or do people not care anymore and just want the cheapest option available. I have over 600 DVDs and none are copies or pirated copies.

A very complex issue! If I buy a favourite
DVD for instance, and my grandchildren want to keep watching it and, without any malice, they mishandle it,drop it to the floor etc.... Then If I make a Backup copy on my PC purely to protect my original disc, and let the kids play the copy, how do I stand? Yes,I have made a COPY of a copyrighted movie,BUT as I have bought and paid for the disc in the first place, would that then make ME a 'pirate'????? Or simply someone trying to protect their 'investment' in buying the disc originally? |

It annoys me when those adverts come on saying you wouldn't do this , you wouldn't steal a car so don't steal a movie.
How do they know you wouldn't steal a car? |

Downloading a film off the net obviously isnt the same as stealing a car. Any person with half a brain knows this.

That you wouldn't steal a car advert is so stupid. Next they'll make one showing someone being murdered and saying " you wouldn't steal a life, so why steal a movie?" That's how ridiculous their comparisons are.

That advert makes me laugh. Do they think we all live in Hollywood or something? The last film I saw that on was Taken 2. That sure as hell wasn't made by MY local film industry!

When I moved to the US I finally had to grasp the nettle and deal with both my numerous bought tapes and the 200 plus recorded off the TV. Years ago I bought everything I saw at the cinema and countless other classics with the idea they'd be a collection for life. They all had to go. Useless here and the quality is crap too. DVDs had to go too. They actually felt like a chain around me worrying how I was going to house, move display all those highly flammable cassettes. I'd have happily taken the 90 quid offered years ago for the lot. You only get pennies for DVDs as well now. I have a new no collect philosophy now! |
