Why is UK Netflix so bad?

Netflix + Unblock US as lots of us know gets you access to many more regions than you would normally and I've just set Unblock back to UK for the first time in ages to watch The thick of it. When I refreshed the page (I'd recently watched Devil and Hunger Games on NF Mexico) and it went back to the UK selection it struck me just how bad it is. The Ireland site has a better choice, and the US/Canada/Mexico sites are much better. I haven't even looked at the Brazil/Sweden/Denmark/Norway or Finland sites yet!
The only gripe I can possibly come up with is hardcoded subs for foreign countries, but I can live with that.
I'd love to know how many people are using Unblock US with Netflix not to mention how many are oblivious to Unblock and just put up with the awful UK choice!
Seems like we get the dregs.

If you go read all the different Facebook pages for all the different Netflix regions posters all complain about their native content being crap and that others are better.
It's all down to your perception of what you think is good and bad.
If you go by what Canadian users say, then they have the worst Netflix region but for me personally Canada is the one region I'm mostly logged into.
Your never going to get the very latest and greatest for a non premium service and Netflix can only provide what the Studios give them in their contractual package.

You have to ideally look in all of them for content.

Spartacus episodes are on Netflix Sweden.

The Ireland site? I have yet to see any difference between the UK and Ireland version? Sky and their unfair exclusive deals are to blame for both being so poor.

When I was watching English films from the Brazilian store via my Apple TV, I didn't see any subtitles. Has other people had this experience with the Apple TV?

Thinking about it, which devices had forced subtitles and which didn't? Might make for an interesting list.

Subtitles are not specific to device, they're specific to film.
Try looking at Hunger Games or Despicable Me on Brazil.

i can find a fair bit to watch on the UK version, lots of stuff I have missed over the years or stuff I have not watched the whole series. True Unblock us and other like it make Netflix a better buy, but i could live with the UK version.

I got unblock to go with netflix but all it does is offer a wider range of pap programming. I look from time to time but there is usually nothing much available of interest to me.

Then why bother? The reason I stopped paying for the TV licence because it don't offer what I want for the money. so what is the point in paying for netflix if there is nothing worth watching on it?

What i like about Netflix is that I can watch stuff when I want, not have to rely on when BBC or ITV want me to watch it.
i agree that with unblock US, Netflix is even better and to be honest all this sky have got the rights, so no one else can show it is bloody stupid and out of date.

Give the rights to anyone who want to show it if they can afford it and let have some proper competition

Well its only a couple of quid a month and my lad watches some things on there. My TV license is far far better value for money though and of course a PVR lets me watch what I want when I want. Lovefilm is even worse, truly awful.

No it don't, a PVr will let you watch what have already been on if you remember to set it up. Can you watch a film that is on BBC1 next week on your PVR, tomorrow?

Nope, of cause you can't
