Terrible shame. One of the series' best guest actors, esp. Deadly Assassin. Rest In Peace. |

Just noticed. We've lost another time lord. One of the very first. Bernard was one of the original time-lords that exiled the Doctor to Earth in The War Games finale as well as playing Chancellor Goth in The Deadly Assassin.

I only finished watching The Mind Robber, where he played Lemuel Gulliver the other day
A Marc Platt short story in the 1992 Doctor Who Yearbook put forward the idea that "Gulliver" and the unnamed Time Lord in The War Games were both in fact Goth http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Goth |

RIP Bernard. Thought he was great as Goth in The Deadly Assassin.

Sad to hear about this too. Thought all four roles he did were great, even the lesser one in the Planet Of The Daleks as Taron, he brought a certain amount of authority to the role. Goth was definitely the best role he did but was superb as Gulliver in The Mind Robber too. And though the Time Lord Role in The War Games was a small one, he still played it with yet more authority.
Seen him in The Avengers and other things, was still superb in those too. RIP.

He was excellent as Chancellor Goth. Sad to see him go, though he did have a good life span and hopefully a fulfilling one.

R.I.P.
Good actor and perfect in Classic Who in whatever role he played. Here's something to ponder. Bernard appeared in more TV episodes of Doctor Who than Paul McGann and almost as many as Christopher Eccleston. |
