I mean I do not get it! There seem to be this weird subsection of the culinary world who think its acceptable to claim this vile brown gloop is actually a decent option when it comes to snack time. Who are these people?

I mean for me its pretty much proof that food isnt as good now as it used to be. I mean sure, they put it in a fancy jar to try and tart it up but theyre not fooling anyone. It is pointless. Melted chocolate on bread? Disgusting. How can anyone not share the exact same tastebuds as me? Come on! Explain yourselves! I demand it!

Down with chocolate spread!!!!!!

Chocolate spread on toast..heaven, second only to peanut butter on toast. I'm sure Brian Cox proved this on one of his shows..(actually that might not be true).

Down with salad...Boooo

Peanut Butter is amazing. Now you are talking. A spread with real substance and character. But why chocolate spread? It has no place being there. On the bread. All chocolatey and brown and spready. Urrghh. Why!

The sad thing is, that I used to like chocolate spread when it came out 102 years ago, when I was nobbut a bairn. How I wish chocolate spread was how it used to be. Now, I have chocolate spread and weep.

I write this more in sorrow than anger. I'm not in any way "bashing" the current makers of chocolate spread. (Although they are rubbish.)

I wish you hadn't said that. I now have a craving* for ice cream with chocolate spread, and I have none in the house.

*(It doesn't take much ).

Proper nut butters are great but I can't stand those imitation sugary products.

It would have been better to delete this thread than move it to Food & Drink.

Chocolate spread and hot milk makes a lovely hot chocolate.

I don't like it on bread.

The thread was started in the Dr Who forum (maybe there was some reference to said spread in the show?) then moved to Food and Drink by a literal-minded mod.
