Well you didn't look very hard then did you?

Google tethering and giffgaff and you'll get all the answers you need. You could also search this forum and get the same answers.

Let's see...

Tethering on Giffgaff goodybags with unlimited data - No it's not allowed!

Tethering on Giffgaff goodybags or gigabags with a data limit - Yes it's allowed!

However...

Tethering Giffgaff on most phones and Jailbroken iPhones - Yes it's possible!

Tethering Giffgaff on non-jailbroken iPhones - No it's not possible as Giffgaff is an un-official carrier!

Hope this helps!

I'd like to know who is blocking Giffgaff from having their own carrier bundle? Is it Apple being an arse, O2 not allowing it, or Giffgaff not pulling their finger out? Because if it wasn't for this, I would probably replaced my jailbroken 3GS with a i5 by now.

I'd imagine as GG is the cheap offshoot project of O2...it would be them. You pay less to get less generally.

It's Apple, they won't allow Giffgaff to become a carrier with Apple carrier settings because they don't meet Apple's requirements.

They don't sell the hardware

No phone support
That's why Apple have refused them to have status as an Apple carrier and therefore no tethering / carrier settings.

They are an un-official carrier too.

All Apple official carriers are listed here:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937

3
Everything, Everywhere
O2
Orange
T-Mobile
Tesco
Vodafone

To be an official Apple carrier you must meet Apple requirements.

No idea how they got the Virgin carrier file into iTunes then, unless T-mobile do something different to Giffgaff / O2 for MVNO.

True, but it's O2 that set the carrier settings for GiffGaff. It shows an O2 profile on the phone. They could easily enable tethering for GiffGaff customers if they wanted to.
