I'm looking to go to New York later this year but I'm having a lot of trouble trying to find an airline that will be suitable, as I have a severe nut allergy. BA and VA don't want to know and have said that they can't give me a nut free meal and wont stop selling nuts onboard. Obviously, the situation is much more complicated than simply not eating any nuts, which some don't seem to understand. So, i'm just wondering if anyone has had the same problem and who you flew with if so?

Thank you in advance.

I flew with Thomson on a short haul flight a couple of years ago and they announced that they would not be selling nuts as someone on board had a severe nut allergy. Thomson probably don't fly to New York though, so thats not really any help sorry. If they can stop selling the nuts, why can't BA??

So many airlines hand out bags of those tiny pretzels now rather than nuts, which i thought could be due to nut allgeries...

Sorry i can't help on this matter other than suggest you contact more airlines, plenty fly to NYC.

I used to fly to America quite often back in the 90s and never touched any airline food, always took my own. Airline food is horrible.

So your allergy is that bad that someone eating nuts near you could bring on an attack?

Have you looked at US airlines instead of UK based ones? I've been on several internal/long haul US flights and many have had peanut bans if someone has an allergy. Although as MICH78 says most serve pretzels, I can't remember the last flight I got with peanuts.
