BBC4- Eyes Down-The Story Of Bingo
What a great programme, loving the old clips of the bingo halls.
![]() People do the lottery nowadays and it's cheaper but without the fun of the social part it brings. |

I was amazed too that the Printers of the Cards made money from this, employing so many people....way back then, when it became popular. Bingo!

I thought this was a well made documentary.
I particularly liked the contemporary interview at the theatre where bingo had been introduced to supplement the income from presumably, poorly attended plays. The snooty girl's attitude who I guess was an "actress," err... doubling as a box office cashier on "bingo days" complaining in her posh voice about the bingo posters outside the theatre was classic. I've never been inside a bingo hall or played the game in my life, but I'm sure it's a fairly enjoyable and inexpensive pastime for many. |

The old b&w clip of the bookie's runner had me in stitches , by the time he'd got there the race would have finished.
