EA have confirmed the inevitable.... that they are currently working on next-gen versions of FIFA and Battlefield, with more information to be revealed in May.

That should mean that at least one of the forthcoming Xbox / PlayStation consoles should be revealed before then. (Some analysts are predicting March)

Star Wars 1313 and Watchdogs are also rumoured to be next-gen (or at least cross-gen) titles.

Mix in the secret first-party offerings from Sony / Microsoft and it looks like we should get off to a good start, no matter what console we go for.

Exciting times ahead.

The first party stuff however....

Would love to see Uncharted 4 rolled out with the PS4, unlikely tho.

Hopefully Microsoft come up with something brand new, not another FPS either.

Uncharted 4 could be happening. The Naughty Dog team have apparently been split into 2 groups. One is workng on The Last of Us, the other half are on a secret project.

I wanna see a lot more action adventure, explore and collect, puzzle solving games. I love that kinda stuff.

I'm pretty meh about that EA announcement with FIFA and Battlefield.

Rather than just jump on to make use of the power of the new machines, I'd like to see the next gen to see innovation rather than technical progression.

I'd like more use of social aspects of gaming with the new consoles. Let's have party viewing of games. I want a spectator mode in most online games so I can see what is going on. PGR3 had this when the 360 was released, and it was quickly forgotten.

Halo 4 has proven that it takes more than a new coat of paint to engage the imagination of gamers. That title had it's inevitable hype but didnt even end up most people's best games of 2012 list.

New ideas please!

I'm expecting Fallout 4 this year, they are usually launched on October 19th (i think), but I would be surprised if it would be a launch day title. It's too good an IP for that.

Would love to see Fallout 4 but I doubt it will come this year even if it does fit with the 'every 3 years' thing.

It's always nice to have a new Fifa with a new console

In terms of other games that i want on the next playstation to be honest i'm hoping for a few sequels at launch, innovation is all well and good but to any of us want to lay £300-400+ on a New PS and then have the new IPs all be terrible leaving us with nothing play

The dream start would be Fifa 14, Uncharted 4 and An enhanced port of GTAV (now please remember i said 'dream' the chances of this are so slim)

EA's John Riccitiello said that next-gen editions of FIFA and Battlefield are in development during their financial report presentation.

"We’ve signalled that we’re working on the next editions of our two biggest franchises in Battlefield and FIFA. And, we look forward to discussing these programs and many others with you when we provide our FY14 guidance in May."
