O2 free Wifi and iPad logging on
Hi.
I regularly use the various free Wifi hotspots when out and about on my iPhone but I am having a bit of trouble connecting to the O2 Wifi hotspots with my Wifi only ipad. It seems to need a separate Internet connection (cellular) to get onto the landing/login page. Even on the iPhone I can't access it if I have no signal on the mobile network. All other free wifi hotspots provide the landing page via the connection you are trying to log into. Is the O2 free wifi only for use with mobile phones? It does say you don't need to be an O2 customer and the help page even provides a step by step setup for iPads but doesn't mention the need for 3G etc first? Am I missing something simple? ![]() Many thanks Jodrell |

I'm on O2 customer but I don't know what wifi hotspots we are allowed to use. I used to use the cloud when O2 had that but now I don't know what hotspots we are allowed to use. Also even though my contract with O2 is for my phone could I use the hotspot for my ipad mini, iPod touch or chromebook?

@kidspud.
Is your ipad mini wifi only? Or Wifi and cellular? @Anika Hanson I don't think you need to be an O2 customer. Anyone can use all the O2 free hotspots regardless. Cheers. |

So when you log onto the O2 wifi does it load the login page from the location you are at? How did you get the code they send via text message if you cant connect to the mobile network?

Jodrell I'll see if I can check tomorrow and let you know the actual process. |

Anika, if you are an O2 customer you can use the cloud and O2 wifi for free. O2 Customers do still, AFAIK, get access to BT Openzone though. |

The Cloud is now owned by Sky - no more free access for O2 customers.
