Beef - Grass v Grain
Was watching a US show last night and the guy was raving about his beef because it was grass fed.
I've seen a few other US shows where they've mentioned that a majority of the cattle is grain fed. Over here I believe that the majority is grass fed. Anyone tried both? Is there a big difference? Are there too many variables such as breed, ageing, preperation and cooking? Would you care as long as it tasted good

British beef is mostly always fed a mixed diet so to find beef that is only grass or grain fed will be difficult, which is mainly due to cost as feeding nothing but grains here would be ridiculously expensive.
So the bulk of the diet would be made up of grass and or grass silage as us Brits are very good at growing grass and it's cheap feed, with additional feeding coming from grains or later in the year maize silage. |
