So what's the minimum I have to do on an orange payg SIM to keep it active, picked one up today just for orange Wednesdays

I used to have a Orange PAYG and it used to be that you had to make at least one call a Month. That was in 2012.

Incorrect. You need to use a chargeable event (outgoing call or text) or topup once every 6 months.

The incoming rule stopped some time ago.
