I just flush cat poo down the loo, as ours is once a fortnight too.

It also depends where you keep the litter tray. Kitchen - not so pleasant!
I have our covered one in the conservatory - but at my last house, it seemed logical to keep it in the loo/bathroom. Frequent changes and fresh air spray did the trick for both cats and humans!

It also depends on what you fed them on too. When there fed wet food they usually pong more. I only ever realy used catsan too. As I have a multicat household mine have too be pooped ever couple of hours or when we noticed them going in it. Mine wouldn't use a covered in one they most likely sleep in the too of it

They refuse to eat anything other that Felix senior as good as it looks!

that one is similar to the one i've got. I've got two pretty big cats using it full time at the moment and there are no problems with them using the door or with the smell. Having said that i do change the litter in full every morning and clean it with anti-bacterial spray. I use Thomas cat litter because its cheaper and easy for me to get in larger quantities. I used Catsan at first but I can't say it was any better smells-wise tbh.
I also had one of the chip cat flaps put in and that works great, so as mentioned earlier that could help with trying to control which of your cats has access to the garden

I tried liners and also bin bags to help ease the cleaning but one of mine is a very ferocious scratcher in there... the bags/liners were ripped to shreds with the litter all ending up underneath after just one 'visit' ! 
Another bonus of the lid - i doubt there would be any litter lift in the tray !!

we got our 2 a large corner tray that is in the bathroom and another hooded 1 that is in an open walk in cupboard. We use wood pellets as litter and it helps keep the smell at bay.
I have the Catit hooded litter tray. My Trollop loves it. She's a large cat and with a normal tray she used to sometimes have accidents over the edge of the tray as she likes to stand and pee. With the Catit one, the base has really deep sides so there's no more accidents. She goes around the box scratching the walls and door for about 5 minutes after her business as it's her weird way of dealing with toilet issues! I use Cat's Best Oxo clumping wood chip from Pets at Home. It looks expensive but a large bag lasts me 4 months and she uses the tray every day. When she pees the litter clumps into a gel like substance which just scoops out without any smell and it can be flushed down the loo. I found clay litter even Catsan did smell with urine but this just doesn't smell at all. I flush number twos down the loo and the wee just put it in the food bag bin as it's biodegradable.
Ok. The litter tray has arrived today and so far he won't go near it.
Last night he went behind the tv and that is strange behaviour for him and when I checked he had urinated behind there. I have now checked and he has also urinated behind a settee!
So much for me worrying about the litter tray smelling! He has obviously been urinating behind my furniture for a week now and I never smelt it.
I don't know whether he is scared to go out after the fight or whether he's now getting dementia. I will have to see if he starts using the litter tray or continues to urinate behind the tv and settee.

I get it from the Countrywide farmers place for about £8 per huge bag.
Cats apparently shouldn't be exposed to dusty or scented litter as their noses are so sensitive.

He is now happily using his litter tray and even though I've not locked his cat flap he is staying in.
There is no smell at all.
My best buy is the Litter Locker II bin. It's brilliant. I have it next to the litter tray and the mess goes straight in there, no smell and really convenient. Love it.

Our cat litter tray is in the storeroom at the top if the stairs. We've never had any smell issues as we clean her tray after each visit. We use baby nappy bags to dispose of her mess. We know when she has a number 2 as she goes crazy telling us by running around like a mad crazed cat.

Yes he took to it much better than the paper-based litter we were given first by the Animal Shelter. It is very much like a very, very fine gravel and probably feels like he's scratching in pebbly soil, plus it has no perfumes or other off-putting odours (that are added for the humans delectation, not for the cats).
It comes in a huge 20L bag which lasts quite some time.

we keep the litter tray in the toilet (loo room) we have a scoop and when anyone from the family goes to teh loo they check and put the poo in the loo it keeps it clean and less smelly. you can also spray smelly in there to keep the smells nice.

Mine did the same. He managed to lift the liner, poo under it, then put the liner back over his poo.
I've read that a sprinkling of bicarbonate of soda in the bottom, before addng the litter, is effective at removing odours. I've not tried this myself but it's worth trying as it's very cheap to buy.

I've been told that tip works for removing the stink from smelly trainers so it might just work for litter trays as well

I've just got some new litter called Sanicat Aloe vera and it smells SO nice! It was on special offer for £2 for 4litres.

Mine use to to mainly wee in (only one uses it for having a poo as she is getting old and stiff) but house not smelling! Their litter tray is in the bath room and it's the 1st time I can sit on the loo and not smell cat wee

World's Best Cat Litter is the world's best cat litter. Expensive but lasts and safe to flush down the loo. Doesn't track everywhere either.
