good evening all..

stupid question for every one..
who ACTUALLY OWNS virgin media now?
i know virgin got a part of it,but does ntl/telewest still part of it as well? or does virgin own the whole stake and runs the show?
i know richard branson thinks he runs it,but DOES HE run the show? or just his face does the advertising with that other skinny guy? i am lost now with virgin media?

Quick question, aimed at BenMcr77 (or anybody else in the know), do the companies Telewest & NTL actually exist anymore or are they completely defunct?

I had previously read, that if Virgin pulled out of the company, they would have to revert back to NTL:Telewest.

Is this true?

I'd expect that Virgin Media still own the rights to the ntl and telewest brands, however the company wouldn't have to revert to those names if for any reason they stopped being part of the Virgin group brand. They would be able to choose any new name they wished

I always thought that NTL merged with Telewest (or one bought the other) then they bought the rights to use the Virgin name?

Something like that I think, didn't they then buy Virgin Mobile which led to a licsensing deal for the brand name?

This is correct.

In March 2006, NTL and Telewest who were both separate Cable companies merged together to become NTL:Telewest.
Then in April 2006 NTL:Telewest bought Virgin Mobile from Virgin Group.
Virgin Mobile merged with NTL:Telewest, and with the purchase they got 30-year deal that allowed them to use the Virgin name.

what gets me,if ntl/telewest owns virgin mobile, why dont ntl/telewest use their own name on the mobile network as well..i would if i bought another company..
they should of made NTL/TELEWEST a BIG NAME brand company.. it should TELEWEST&NTL UK
