To me these 2 have seen similar levels of success, Dido's first 2 album's were massive sellers, and Adele's 21 has seen phenomenal success. Which of these two do you think provided more to the industry, and Will Adele be here 15 years from now just like Dido has been. Did they both have an equal contribution to the industry at their given time.

Dido's No Angel sold over 21 million copies world wide, Life for Rent sold 12 million copies world wide and Safe Trip Home sold 2 million Albums. Adele's 21 album has sold approx 28-30 million albums and 19 sold 7 million copies world wide

Well firstly I prefer "white flag" to "rolling in the deep". I like the tone of Didos voice however I think adeles voice has become slightly over exposed. Overall i think I would pick Adele though.

I liked Dido's first album and a few tracks off of her sophomore album, but Adele is slightly more diverse and interesting, although I wouldn't call myself a fan. I think Adele wins.

No Angel was one of the first albums I brought. It is almost perfect for me, except for the song slide. Life For Rent wasn't as good as No Angel but it has some really good songs and i really like that See The Sun song that Dido wrote by her self.I don't think 19 or 21 are as good as No Angel. 21 is slightly overrated, with all the released singles being very good but the other songs are kind of disappointing. I will go with Dido.

For me i love Dido far far more...her tone, her style...it is truly something unmatched...and depsite her commercial and critical success ido think she is often overlooked too

Its too close to call for me. Dido's No Angel album was a breath of fresh air and remains one of my favourites of all time. With Adele, i prefer the '21' album to '19', i like both artists for different reasons. Im sitting on the fence for this one

no angel sold about 14 million and life for rent sold around 10 million, safe trip home sold around a million copies

No Angel TODAY has sold around 21 million copies. When Dido was popular it had sold about 11 million copies.

I like both, but prefer Adele. I've always found Dido's voice quite depressing to be honest. Life For Rent (the titular song) is a classic though.

The wiki article for No Angel sheds some light:

No Angel is the debut album by English musician Dido. Originally released on 1 June 1999 in the United States, the album found a mass audience when it was released worldwide in February 2001

It was pretty much her feature on Eminem's Stan, released in 2000 that provided her big break I think.

eminem used "thank you" as a sample in the song "stan" which got the album a release in the uk and it then went on to sell large numbers

I think both these ladies brought a unique element to the industry at that given time, and both evolved due to creating a new sound.
