What is wrong with denim on denim ?
I have a lovely denim jacket which only seems to go well with denim jeans.
Problem is in my head I can wear both together because of niggling voices in my head saying 'don't wear denim on denim'. What's wrong with it? |

It can look good, if the wearer wears the denim well.
I can't wear it, am too old and not 'cool' enough IMO. If I was younger and cooler I'd wear clashing denim, as I think the same shade of denim can look a little silly, but again it all comes down to the person wearing it. |

Some of us were sentient adults in the 80's and its not fair that someone can suddenly appear round a corner wearing denim on denim, it throws us into a premature menopause. I reckon it might be OK if you wore a bell or something
![]() Seriously though, if you're a young hipster go for it, what the hell! |

Matching denim just looks a bit dated.

I remember fondly wearing denim jeans, shirt (Levi popper shirt); waistcoat and jacket, probably with brown DM's in the late 70's

Double denim is a bit like tie-dye.
Was great in the day but we all looked like t*ts. Wear your jacket with colored jeans and look well hip, like. |

Double denim had a revival about 2 or 3 years ago. (I remember Alexa Chung going on about it on some TV show.) I don't think it's still fashionable now, but I've always thought it looks good!

Some people carry it off, some don't. If you feel good in them you WILL look good so go for it!
(unless you're deluded and in a mid-life crisis etc.)I also think if it's a pair of skinny denim jeans with a jacket it looks a lot better than normal jeans. |

Double denim is back in, although I still think you need to be careful. For example, if you're wearing denim jeans and a denim jacket, make sure they're not the same colour.

Double denim can look ridiculous of worn right, but I sometimes wear denim jackets and black jeans, which looks perfectly fine.

Load of crap. There is nothing wrong with wearing a 'double denim'. The only rule you should stick to, in my opinion. is not to wear shoes with jeans - trainers or boots only.

Sorry but double denim looks awful.
It doesn't matter if the denim matches or is different colours, either way it still looks awful. There is a guy in my work who wears jeans and an almost-same-colour denim shirt every Friday. Everybody thinks he looks ridiculous. He doesn't care, fair enough, good for him (but that doesn't change the fact that he DOES look awful). The problem, for me anyway, is that if you can't wear a denim jacket with jeans then what do you wear it with? As a result I never wear denim jackets anymore and haven't since it stopped being acceptable to wear double denim. |

It depends, really.
Sometimes it doesn't look so bad - it can be quite trendy... http://www.denimology.com/2010/02/do...x697-32544.jpg http://suzienglish.files.wordpress.c...-poc3a9sey.jpg http://blog.brandsexclusive.com.au/w...500&zc=1&q=100 And obviously sometimes it's hideous... https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/i...CoJb5RQcXcT7-g http://images.sugarscape.com/userfil...00912rita1.jpg |
