Huawei Ascend G300 (Vodafone) - Updates After Unlocking
Hi folks!
I have a Huawei Ascend G300 and have requested an NUC code from Vodafone. I have noticed that all current software updates for the G300 (such as ICS) currently come from Vodafone, so what happens to these updates if I switch to another network provider, such as Talkmobile? Will I still be alerted to these updates? Another thing I want to ask is about the ability to send free text messages on an Android phone. A relative has told me they use something called iMessage on their iPhones that allows them to send free text messages, do Android phones have anything similar avalable? Cheers! |

Don't leave Voda , its by far the best coverage for calls - maybe not the best for 3G
Don't upgrade the android version as the original is far better with this fantastic phone . Most trarrifs include many texts free ( mine is unlimited txt and 300 mins & loads of data for just £15 per month ) So there you have it LOL |

Most trarrifs include many texts free ( mine is unlimited txt and 300 mins & loads of data for just £15 per month ) So there you have it LOL Vodafone is absolutely TERRIBLE! Here's why: 1) I was round my brothers the other day in a large main town and couldn't even get a signal to sent a text message. 2) I had trouble sending picture messages, sent a text to receive setup stuff for my phone, nothing sent. 3) Ordered an NUC code on the 13th January which is stated as taking 3 days to do, Vodafone took £19.99 from my phones credit and I'm still waiting for the NUC (2nd Feb)! 4) Wrote to CEO office about no NUC sent, provided phone number so they could check my account, they replied I have NO account when I did one week ago! 5) I visit Vodafone.co.uk and enter my account details, NOT known, my account had been messed up or closed! 6) Now need to re-register for another account so all record of my £19.99 NUC fee I paid may be lost! 7) Vodafone also charge well over the top for calls, text and internet on PAYG, a fee of £1 each time your phone connects for one second is a rip-off. I know you can use freedom freebies but I dont want to keep paying £10 per month. The ONLY good thing about Vodafone is their LIVE technical chat service. |

iMessage allows users to send messages to other iPhone and iPad users free via wi-fi. When the phone is on 3G it uses the data package that you have with your tariff. If you mean something like that which is cross platform, so can be used by iPhone, Android, Windows Phone etc, then Whatsapp is the most popular and likely the most widely used. Certainly most people I know have it across a variety of phones.

Did not think you could use vodafone account on payg
payg in general is not suitable for data -- contracts with all the providers are cheaper . If you are on payg then why not just get a unlock code from ebay and go with another provider but check the coverage first . |
