I love Nevermind its a solid album and one which i really enjoy. I love In Utero too but have never connected with it in the way i have with Nevermind. I also love a bit of Hole too i have a soft spot for courtney.

Not that Nervermind isn't great... I guess it just has all the hits I've heard too many times over the years.

I have Nirvana, The Singles, although misses so many great tracks. I don't know why people started mentioning Courtney Loves band Hole on this thread, but for my tuppence worth, have Pretty on The Inside, and Celebrity Skin albums.

IMO the ranking of Nirvana albums from best to worse is: 1) 'In Utero' 2) 'Bleach' 3) 'Nevermind' I do really like 'Something In The Way' off of 'Nevermind' though. That's a brilliant song. |

That's all very well. But you've not answered the traditional DS number one question... are they as good as One Direction?

Is this not the case with most non pop bands and artists? The album that get's them big may have catchy tracks but lacks the substance and qaulity of the majority of their less mainstream material?

Just to add my two cents to the discussion, 'In Utero' is easily my favourite Nirvana album, but 'Nevermind' is a close second. Also, for their big 'mainstream' album, it's funny how a lot of 'Nevermind' isn't actually that different from 'Bleach', aside from the cleaner production. |

Nevermind is a great album that kickstarted a whole genre. Sure you can trace the origins of the Seattle sound back to Green River, The Melvins, The U-Men and The Fastbacks - but it was Nevermind that broke grunge into the mainstream.
I happen to think Nirvana were abit of a one trick pony (hellva good trick mind) - I think they only really had one sound, the main difference between their albums is the production - Low-Fi (Blench) - Pop (Nevermind) and Raw (In Utero). It's my personal view that even if Kurt hadn't taken his life, the band had reached it's natural conclusion and would have ended. |

I think we would have seen them go quieter and more melodic, at least for the record that followed In Utero. It's gutting that we never found out what Kurt would go on to do. He was instinctively more talented than, I think, a lot of people realised.

He only wanted 3 albums with nirvana and that was it, he was intending to do solo projects and an album with r.e.m. Front man michael stripe.
I wish kurt was still making music but god must have needed him more |
