Alison Moyet Appreciation Thread

just been reading about her new album, which has got me quite excited as it'll have a more electronic sound apparently and a 'prog-pop' style, make of that what you will.

If it's as good an album as Hometime I'll be more than happy.

I love Alison Moyet her voice and her as a person just brilliant my mum was a huge fan in the 80's and introduced me to her just love her. Am excited for a more electro feel as her work with Yazoo is brilliant.

I only have one album by her, Alf. I love Invisible, All Cried Out Love Resurrection and For You Only. I'm not familiar with her more recent work. What other albums would people recommend?

her singles album is a gem and covers her stuff from yazoo and beyond Alf so is maybe a good starting point.
her album Hoodoo is superb and its where you'll find the two songs i mentioned above.

best albums are Hoodoo and Hometime. And as confuddled suggested, the singles collection is a must.

Talking of singles, this should have been one -

and for yazoo fans -

I never realised until today that Kirsty MaCcoll had written 'Walking down Madison' for her. Anyhow - I adore her voice - unique and still as powerful.

I just read in the news section on here that she is doing a new album with Guy Sigsworth. He is one of my all time favourite producers. I love his work with Madonna, Imogen Heap, Alanis Morissette and his own band Frou Frou. So I would buy the new record just because of Guy.

A female I feel I oughta check out, think she would be right down my street! And wow didn't know Kirsty wrote that track for her! Kirsty is also a favourite of mine!

Changeling, the first track from Alison Moyet's next album, the minutes, (produced by Guy Gigsworth) is available to download for free from her official site, www.alisonmoyet.com.

Back to a more electronic sound - love it!

Thanks! Great track. But then I knew it would be since Guy Sigsworth is such a great producer and I love almost everything he's done.

New single here - When I Was Your Girl http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/ne...deo-watch.html

Sounds more Morrissey than Yazoo but a great song none the less and Alison sounds fabulous.

I don't like that song too much. It sounds more acoustic/MOR rather than electronic. I definitely like Changeling a lot more.

Every now and then you hear a voice on a radio that makes you stop what you are doing (not if you are driving a bus though) and think that you are listening to a very special voice that has a sound that moves your very soul. Alison sings, I listen, that's it.

She was on Graham Norton last week, looked bloody amazing and sounded gr8. My God, would have though Alf would blossom into the lady she's become today! All my female m8s used to dress like her back in '84!
Love Hoodoo, but, I really think Essex is super-under-appreciated.

I recieved my signed copy of 'the minutes' yesterday and oh my god it is OUTSTANDING! I don't have a favourite as every track is fantastic. And what's even more fantastic is that it is currently no.8 on the iTunes albums charts. http://www.apple.com/euro/itunes/cha...p10albums.html

Alison Moyet is well and truly back!!
