Question - Samsung S111 / Galaxy
Hi all,
I am a Iphone user and looking at moving to a Android phone. Been reading up on various phones is the Galaxy Nexus the same as a S3? So did Samsung used to make phones for Google then started making its own? Just confused ![]() D4n |

Nexus 4 is made by LG, the one before that Samsung.

Hi there,
Lots of manufacturers make/made the Nexus phones (with pure Android on them) such as HTC and Samsung, but then Samsung also make their own phones with Android on them and then add some of their own features (such as the following): Smartstay (screen stays on when you are looking at the phone so that you don't have to keep tapping the screen (looks for your eyes with front facing camera)). Direct call (if you are reading a text from somebody you can just lift the phone to your ear and it will ring them (I use this all the time)). Also some direct data transfer (just touch the phones together and you can transfer videos etc over wireless). Some people prefer to have the Nexus phones as you get the Android updates sooner and they don't like any of the other software on there, but I prefer Samsung add ons to the S3. It may be worth waiting until the S4 is out as you could look at that and also the S3 will get a little but cheaper. The S4 should be out in say 3 or 4 months (if you can wait that long). Also an advantage other phones have over the Nexus is you can add an SD card (I have 16GB on the phone for apps and then a 64gb SD card for my photos, music and videos). Also you can swap the battery as well (but please everyone don't start the arguments about that). Mark |

Also another feature I like that Samsung have added is the phone vibrates when you pick it up to let you know if you have a missed call or a text.

I'm quite enjoying my S3 mini. Not as big as S3 itself but maybe a touch bigger than iphone (not sure)
Think its lower spec than the actual S3 but good for me at least. In saying that I did move from a Sony ericson W810i ![]() However I believe my version doesnt have NFC and they've just released a version that does. |

Most places now have stock or will shortly have stock of the NFC variant. |

The biggest loss I would say is S-Beam but even that's not something most people would use all that often.
