Has she released an album ? Or been dropped already ?
What is actually happening. |

Nobody knows really. Apparently her album is being released on the 12th of March, but there has been no promo for it at all.
I suspect they will quietly drop her before the year us out and hope that nobody notices. It looks pretty bad for XFUS that they have tested their first winner so abysmally. It's a shame, I really liked Melanie and hoped she would do well, but it's probably far too late now... |

Melanie on the other hand, didn't put out a single until two months after she won and then later released a few generic dance songs with mind numbingly dumb lyrics, another season of XF has come and gone since her own and she still has no album to speak of. Leona's career was handled far more professionally than Melanie's. |

That's what I meant. And they have a similar type of voice.

She's been horribly managed and the singles she's released since the show have been so far removed from the ballads that helped her win in the first place. Of course, the X-Factor not being a ratings hit hasn't helped either.

I think they were reluctant to put out ballads because first of all, hit ballads from top songwriters are hard to find these days (they want to write hits). And in the US, radio is King and they've tended not to play too many ballads in the past few years. In Cowell's biography, this issue was alluded to with some suggestion that he dumped the problem on LA Reid's plate.
Despite all the finalists signed from the first season, it has been One Direction and to a lesser extent Cher Lloyd that have had most success in the US recently. |
