The studio looks fantastic however I won't be signing up and will continue with my Sky Sports subscription more value.

I'm also impressed by the coverage they have given to sport outside of the Premier League. Now this could be due to the launch and a need to look like they cover a wide range of stuff, but I'm pleased to see the Aviva Premiership getting extensive treatment among other things, even if I personally don't hold an interest in these sports.

For some reason I imagined BT focusing so much on their PL games and their so called top picks, but have been pleasantly surprised at the restraint so far. Having said all that, the PL is the reason this venture exists, and if they were to lose it at any point in the future, I reckon they'd ditch the operation all together ESPN style.”

No way. They have invested far too much into other aspects such as the other rights they have got, the studio, the 10 year lease.
There is longevity to this. They have spent far too much money for their not to be, even if it only 10% of their free cash flow.
BT will go all out next time for the epl rights and will want at least half. Just look at what they are capable of doing in such a small space of time. It gives you a real idea of just how big BT is.

Is there a better sports presenter than Jake Humphrey at the moment? The signing of the season, bravo BT Sport on an excellent opening night.

I have met the guy and he really is a lovely, lovely man. I think he's going to be a good anchor and he will have a very good future.

First impressions count. And for me, BT have nailed it.

Looking forward to them being a driving force to give Sky a run for their money.

Have to agree. He is a complete natural isn't he?

I think they have everything spot on. The tone, the studio, the talent.

Just wish my tablet was compatible with the online app but it is just a generic Chinese one. Nice tablet but not supported.

Otherwise I can't fault them. Everything has gone pretty smoothly and they are providing what they said they would at no extra cost to me.

The studio is incredible, I second other people's thoughts. Work will be sending us down there in groups one group at a time over the next couple of months. It will be great to see it properly.

I love the pitch!

The studio seems to give it a cohesion that sky sports doesn't have. It feels like a an overall package and I reckon it will encourage people to watch sports that they haven't before.

Will sky follow suit? I can imagine their production will be completely different this season.

TBH of the two of them I prefer Craig Doyle. He is much more natural than the stilted JH.

It was to do with the agreement they had with the Sky EPG contract (ie Sky Sports and Eurosport have the live EPG updates - ESPN didn't/(don't?)) but what about BT Sport now - do we know if the EPG will update for their channels if there is an live event overrun?

Sorry to come late to the party. Just wanted to say I feel absurdly excited. Really enjoyed the 6pm start show, have been busy all evening and have now just caught up with a bit of tennis. I have a feeling that watching sport is going to be much more interesting with so much choice, and with some excellent (and fresh) presenters.

Just one question.....I'm watching on my iPad. Does anyone know how many people in a household can access the app? Is there a limit?

Many thanks.....now back to the tennis!

I'm finding it too gimmicky so far and Jake Humphrey has brought that annoying BBC humour-lite with him. Hopefully it will settle down quickly. In the end, content will win. For me it's an add-on to Sky that I'd rather not have to bother with. Exceptional picture quality though.

The SD quality as demonstrated by the footy was on a par with ITV4. If you are serious about your footy don't skimp but go for the HD option.

I don't know, but I sincearly hope so, otherwise I can see myself doing manual recordings from BT Sport just as I did for ESPN for live sport. Out of interest can you do manual recordings through the BT recording equipment.
Ian.

You can watch on as many devices as you like, with a maximum of 2 streams at any one time.

I agree with the positive sentiments above about Jake Humphrey's presenting skills and also the BT studio layout.

Perhaps it is a bit of "first night wonder" but the open plan style of the BT studio, with the noise of other activity going on behind, seems to immediately make the idea of the traditional desk/sofa studio seem already positively archaic in terms of the advantage it gives for brand cohesion!

Well it is costing me nothing, for the next year anyway, so I am just going to get the most from it and appreciate some premium sport.

Jake has a presence and a personality though. After Keys and Gray left sky, I have watched lots of sky sports coverage but I can't really name any of their presenters. I know Jeff Stelling. But who is that guy who does MNF with Gary Neville? I don't even know his name.

I think Sky have got very complacent in their coverage. The fact they kept Keys and Gray for 20 years says it all.

If BT does one good thing for you it will improve the sky sports coverage.

Some much needed competition in my view.

Fantastic studio and well done to everyone who got everything in place for day one, be it the mobile apps, the studio or the final-hour multicast channel implementation.
Is the studio audience made up of BT staff and their families?

You can have unlimited devices but only 2 can view at a time. During periods they feel the feed is struggling they can cut it to 1 device

Agreed very gimmicky bit cringeworthy at times

Agreed And when you think that there is also a fair bit of sport free to air ( though never enough for me ), I think Sky are going to have to up their game.....

They tried the fans thing with the football preview show the other night. Not sure if it was in response to BT's plans for their studio or not, but I wasn't really keen on Sky's version, the studio they seemed a bit dark and dull compared to BT's which seemed to be a lot brighter with more going on.

Still good though, bearing I mind I am paying nothing this year. Thanks

Liking the comments so far! I'm with Virgin Media though so no chance of watching it (don't do live streaming!). But I really like the comments that it will encourage you to watch other sports.

A stance which reminds me of the Grandstand days where you could spend an afternoon discovering stuff you didnt even think you liked.
