iPhone 4 to 5 upgrade...'No Service'
I upgraded my iPhone 4 to 5 yesterday morning with 3 and had my number transferred from the microSIM to the new nanoSIM. I put the new SIM in the iPhone 5 and was told there was 'No Service'. No biggie, I knew it could take up to 24 hours (though in my experience it has been pretty much instantaneous) and as my iPhone 4 was still connected I knew I'd have to wait until the service went on that before the details had been transferred.
Anyway, this morning I found the SIM still wasn't activated so I decided to give 3 a call. They said they'd nudge things along and put me on high priority which meant the SIM would activate within 4 hours. 6 hours later and I'm STILL left with No Service. My lovely new iPhone 5 is nothing more than a glamorous brick at the moment. Has anyone else had this issue? This is more than a rant than anything but I really don't want to phone 3 again just to be told to wait longer! |

Is your iphone 4 sim still working?
Have you tried turning the phone on and off ? |

Have you tried switching both handsets off for 5 minutes then switching just the iPhone5 back on?
It shouldn't really make a difference but sometimes having the old SIM still connected to the network can mess things around a little. Also, when the iPhone5 reconnects to the network when you switch it back on, that may push through any pending account changes. |

OP, my wife did the same on 3 from a iphone 4 to 5 and it did take nearly a day for it to transfer. I wouldn't worry about it, it will happen.

Hope it will, I'm quite an impatient person at the best of times! It just seems weird as I have never had to wait this long before.
I've just tried turning off both phones for 30 mins then turning on the 5....still 'No Service'. I'll just hope it kicks into life over night! |

Don't know a thing about iPhones ( all my family and friends are Android ) but surely you cant have the old phone connected to the network ? I would have though that would screw the whole process up ?
