28 [32] = Rob Edwards = 6.18% (Round Two)
Ranking History (X-32-28)
Rob takes a 4 place climb up the rankings and into the top 30, quite a relatively small climb and really I think it's down to other taking big falls than the character doing anything majorly interesting on the show. The storyline between Scott, Annalise and Rob fizzled out when after everything that happened Scott got a quick exit. Rob has mainly since been used for comic relief and none of the uni lot have got a major look in in the storyline stakes. Like Liam his biggest storyline at the moment was auditioning as the naked barmen and showing his bum. So hopefully the only way is up for Rob in 2013.

Ranking History (23-28-27)
Climbing a place is one of the world's worst grand-parents; Frankie. Possibly the only character in Hollyoaks who could criticise the suicide victim for being selfish after they try to end their life and not even care about the cause or why they have done it. Frankie has been in the show a fair few years now and I did like the character previously, however it does seem as though the bullying storyline has brought out her worst traits; like Callum not being involved to necessitate the plot most probably. Hopefully Frankie will redeem herself in the weeks to come and deal with the fall out of Ruby's confession etc.

I was rather hoping the only way would be out.
26 [27] = Dennis Savage = 6.72% (Round Two)
Ranking History (X-27-26)
Like Frankie, Dennis takes a climb of a place back up the rankings and remained relatively static year on year. Originally brought in to fill the void of Lee Hunter leaving the show, I would say that Dennis has proved quite successful. Again he is mainly used for comic relief, however him and Leanne are quite amusing together. It will be interesting to see what happens in 2013 with the Savage clan in general and the whole Will/ Texas secret coming out.

Ranking History (X-29-25)
Joel takes a 4 place climb, which isn't bad considering he left the show during the course of the competition. Joel had quite a large role to fill, being a bit of a replacement for Warren and becoming embroiled in Brendan's world. At the beginning of 2013 he was given orders by Brendan to kill Seamus, however that backfired somewhat. Later Joel and Bart tried to steal money from Brendan whereupon he ordered them to leave the village. I guess its possibly for the character to return but with Brendan leaving I'm guessing the whole Brendan/ Warren thing wont resurface again.

So Callum is up next and dips just 1 place in the rankings; he was very close in his group making the semi final rounds but it wasn't quite meant to be. I really like the character of Callum and think there is a lot of potential there; however I wish he would feature more. So much time is given over to the horrible teens that the nice, good and interesting teens are often left out sometimes. Aww I liked Joel.. I think the actor was quite strong, actually.
23 [18] = Jack Osborne = 8.45% (Round Two)
Ranking History (17-18-23)
Dipping just outside the top 20 is Jack who is usually one of the top oldies; this year however he is beaten by Diane, Myra and Martha; so girl power is reigning supreme. There have been alot of Osborne storylines of late including the birth of Nancy and Darren's baby after their previous miscarriage and also the bullying storyline and Jono's death. I really like the character of Jack and is a stalwart of the show, it would be odd to think of the show without him in it. Spoilers indicate he is set to be involved in another car accident, which he seems to be in about every couple of months, so we have the fallout of that to look forward to.

For me Mercedes is such a tired character and in a constant circle of events; she messes up, cries a bit, is forgiven and vows to be better, she messes up, cries a bit, is forgiven etc etc. The character just doesn't change, not even after the affects of everything that's happened to her and to the people she cares about. I hope the recent rumours are true about her leaving the show as I think there is just no where left for her to go. She does off course have her fans and is a popular character which is why she is so high, but for me I just don't really like her

I don't think she's going to come across as wholly likeable in the coming weeks if spoilers are anything to go by. However its just good to see the character actually getting some much needed screentime for once. Just one question though... where the heck is Finn?!

Ranking History (15-25-17)
At 17 is Carmel who takes a surge back up the Hollyoaks Character rankings. A fair few years ago when GazBoi ran a similar Hollyoaks thread Carmel won. Since then she was in a bit of a decline to be honest and then shackled with Calvin and the Valentines. However she has come out of the other side and I think the whole tanning booth accident has completely brought out a new side to Carmel's character. The scenes just after the accident were fantastic and some of Gemma Merna's best scenes in the role. I also love the fact the character is still scarred and it hasn't just been brushed under the carpet. It was good to see the character dealing with an adult issue as opposed to being just used as comic relief
