Interesting, as I really wanted to include Bowie myself, but I think Diamond Dogs and Lodger while good aren't really thought as as classics, and Young America's is generally concidered his worst album of his golden period.

The Who

Tommy
Live At Leeds
Who's Next
Quadrophenia
I was trying to stick to studio album (Shame because Live at Leeds is wonderful!)

I put Leeds in because it is such an iconic, and classic album, but for me I'd add The Who Sell Out, and The Who By Numbers to either end of the non live list anyway.

Same applies to Deep Purples Live In Japan.

Magical Mystery Tour was never released as an album at the time but a double EP. The album was put together later.

But eh - that just means you can add Abbey Road as it was their next studio album. (Yellow Submarine was a soundtrack and not an official Beatles album as such)

It was released in the US as an album, but as you say, a double EP here.

Abbey Road would certainly deserve to be on the list anyway.

Pink Floyd

Dark Side Of The Moon
Wish You Were Here
Animals
The Wall
Never cared for The Wall I thought thatl was an overblown letdown and that PF had finally jumped the shark for me, Comfortably Numb was the only classic PF song on that album. I'd adjust the list to

Pink Floyd

Meddle
DSOTM
WYWH
Animals

Meddle was and still remains a true classic.

For my list:

Genesis

Selling England By The Pound
The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway
Trick Of The Tail
Wind and Wuthering
And Then There Were Three

Much is personal opinion. I love The Wall, which is one of the biggest sellers of all time, and a genuine classic. I'd take it over Meddle everyday. Echoes is a classic, but the other side is a bit hit and miss for me.

Thanks for that.
Yeah and the reason I didn't put Abbey Road was because of Yellow Submarine, but as you've said it's not a proper studio album either, so Abbey can make the list instead of MMT.

I'd argue that those 3 i've bolded are not concidered classics.

You may have a point with Lodger but I have to disagree with you about Diamond Dogs. It's a classic I tell ya! In fact it contains my fave Bowie song ever, actually 3 songs, Sweet Thing > Candidate >Sweet Thing (Reprise), they all sort of run together. Brilliant! I love the title track PLUS it boasts Rebel Rebel!

I'm really not a Blur fan, so take this with a pinch of salt - but I generally thought 'The Great Escape' was hated by alot of fans and the band themselves?

Looking on Allmusic I noticed that every main Beatles album has a 5 star review besides Yellow Submarine which is basically an E.P and Let it be which has 4.5 stars

I agree with all this. It's a mystery to me why Diamond Dogs is disliked so much. Big Brother and 1984 are two of my favourite ever Bowie songs.
