Galaxy note II data/SD problem
TYCO

Since I've had this phone I've been in love with it. But today I ran into my first technical problem with it...

Well, actually it started before today. I had added an SD Card of 32GB which I stored music and video on, anything heavy in terms of data size. I first noticed a problem when my music player playlists kept disappearing. To be precise, the playlist was listed but the contents had disappeared. Then I realised my SD card kept unmounting and remounting every couple of hours or so.

So today I was trying a new SD card, this time only 16 GB, I thought the smaller they are the less chance of problems. When I took out the old SD Card I noticed that the phone calculated data wrong, for example it told me I had 55 GB of video and music, which was impossible, and when I clicked on it no files showed up. Downloads were 200 MB, again when I clicked on it no files showed up. Yet internal memory I still had 8 GB free, as it should have been. Also my computer confirmed this when I connected the phone via USB: Used 2 GB free 8 GB. Strange

I transferred all my data to the new SD card and when I put it in everything was great, all music and video was there. After a while, nothing was there, and when I put the SD back in the computer all the folders had strange letters at the begging of their titles. Perhaps this was just a corrupt SD card and this somehow damaged the samsungs ability to calculate it's own internal data. Who knows.

I have just set the samsung back to factory settings and have formatted the SD card (full not quick) and I'm now in the process of putting everything back on the SD. So far so good.

Have you formatted the SD in the handset as opposed to a computer?

Yes I did both. When I looked at my phone today I have the same problem again with the folders having strange names

I must admit, I recently got myself a note 2 and a 32gig card and the same was happening. I kept getting strange files appearing. I did a 'full' format of the sd card on my pc and it seems to have fixed the problems.
