Cheap Blu Ray Player
Nob question.
Ignoring functionality .... are Blu Ray players just like HDMI cables ie it doesn't matter what you spend the picture will be the same because it's digital? I just want a player ... no nobs and whistles .... just picture quality. Thanks. |

Pretty much, I think. At least up to a certain price level. You might get a slightly better picture for 4 times the price of a budget player, but it will be marginal at best. However at budget prices, I would say reliability becomes more of an issue than performance, and that the quality of your TV is far more important than the quality of your Blu-ray player.
Another one for the weekly Ask Nigel column. |

Thanks.
I am not going to be buying many -if any more - discs .... I've just bought my wife the 2012 London Olympic set and want to buy something for her to watch it on. I have a great TV .... |

You are more likely to get a difference between cheap and expensive players when playing DVDs because the expensive one may have a better upscaler.

Many thanks.
I have no existing DVDs I'll ever want to see again. Looks like cheapest will do. |
