Who's jailbroken on the new IOS 6.1 JB?
Im in two minds as to whether or not im going to, i mean most of what id JB for IOS can do now, ive found since updating from 5.1.1 to 6.1 its much snappier on my 4s, boot up time is more than halfed(20seconds dead) and ive noticed that certain apps open alittle bit quicker aswell, im not sure whether its just the update thats made it quicker or because im not jailbroken now, or maybe a mixture of the two?
Also theres reports that the weather widget stopped working for some people(but a restore can fix it). Think ill wait for now for any issues to be ironed out before i even consider doing my 4S Anyone here done it? did you JB your new shiney iphone 5? |

Apparently there are problems if you updated to 6.1 OTA. They recommend you do a full restore before attempting the jailbreak. Besides even once you do succeed with the JB, don't expect too much from Cydia as it's servers are being totally hammered right now. Something like half a million JBs were performed in the first couple of hours earlier according to one stat I was reading. To be expected I guess as there hasn't been a proper untethered JB available for ages, especially for the newer devices.

Updated here and no issues went from version 6.0 to 6.1 via itunes and then loading the evasi0n program.
Didn't need to restore either nice being able to finally use cyida on the iphone 5

don't expect to be able to use the Sky Go app if you do, as it disables video streaming and pops up a message saying you can't use it on a jailbroken iphone.

Must be fantastic having a JB iPhone 5, does cydia fill the whole screen? Surely they'd have updated it for that.

I don't use that but surely there would be some kind of fix you can get for that(if not now then in the near future)

This process was much easier than previous jailbreaks, no need to put phone into DFU mode, took around 5 minutes in total

There is a jailbreak app for this called xcon that will fix this, although I'm not sure if this has been updated yet for 6.1

I do hope this turns out okay. I've been looking to upgrade my 3GS for a while now, but I've had to discount doing so with a newer iPhone until now because there's no jailbreak which I need so I can tether on Giffgaff's Gigabag.

If this doesnt work the other alternative is to rename the cydia app using ifile.
You need to rename this manually When skygo launches it looks for the named cydia app, changing this will force skygo to launch |

There is no sky go fix, the devs of xcon stopped working on it as they couldn't crack it, it seems sky employee some smart people. There are no other work arounds

I updated my ipt5g to iOS 6.1 this morning as I now know there is nothing to be gained from staying with 6.0.1, but am going to wait until the updated evasi0n version is available which includes the changes to fix the Weather app (rather than using the current v1.0 jb and then getting a fix from Cydia for Weather later). Not that I use Weather anyway (apart from the widget).
After using it unjailbroken since November, another day or two is no problem and gives me more time to check various sites to read about any other issues which are noticed. And perhaps for some third-party app authors to fix their apps if they find that they fail on jailbroken devices. |

Well, I never expected to see it happen.
Voids any phone or tablet warranty though. |

I'm currently in the market for a new phone and i'm all but certain to get a 4s, and I was looking at this jailbreak as a potential means of unlocking the phone myself for free.
Would it be as easy as that ? I did a similar thing a few years back with an old 3G I had and used an app from Cydia to unlock it with no issues. I'm really only considering the option as the difference in price between a locked 4S and an unlocked one at CEX is £90 quid. |
