Steve's giving all the money (from his single) to the Asian disaster fund. What a nice gesture. I might just go out and buy 3 copies of it.

Credit where credit's due, that's a top act. I might have to buy it now aswell, otherwise like Band Aid I'd feel guilty.

*waits until a Steve-naysayer comes in to say that Simon is just trying to get number one*

I'm not knocking what Steve has done. I think its great but buying more singles would mean only a percentage of the purchase price going to the fund. Wouldn't it make more sense if everyone who has already bought the cd donated the equivalent of the price they paid?

Unlike Band Aid 20 though the VAT will still have to be paid to Gordon Brown. Donate £4 instead to the disaster relief fund.

Or you could donate money to a UK cause. A lot of charities in this country have been losing money this last week because of "foreign relief". Remember people.......charity begins at home.

That is hardly Steve and Simon's fault.

Charity begins where it's most needed.

Exactly, tell that to the next homeless person you see, or even someone with a serious medical problem who has been on a hospital waiting list for months. And tell that to the same person when someone from another country is flown here at tax payers expense for an operation that is badly needed by hundreds of people here.

Don't think any blame was being laid at their door. My understanding of the post was more rather than buy the single where probably on a small percentage of the money will go to the charity is if you want to give to the charity give the full cost of the single to the charity and just don't bother buying the single. This way the charity gets the maximum amount of money.

I'm gonna stop here as I don't like arguments but I for one am really upset by that statement

Too right Whip.

I've already bought my copy of Steve's single and although it would be a nice gesture to go out and buy it again to give the help necessary to aid relief for these poor tragic people, I'm going to just pop into my local bank on Tuesday and make a donation knowing that it will all go to the charity fund.

Liked your post Zelana.

Thankyou, you may think whatever you like. Just allow me to be equally outraged by ones that differ to mine.

Please stop arguing! Happy New Year and all that lol!

I've already bought 2 copies of Steve's single and I also donated £10 at my local Oxfam shop yesterday afternoon.

I think that Steve is a top guy! I'd like to think that more stars might donate some of their earnings to such an important cause.

No erguments here, just a difference of opinion. And it's very refreshing that we can actually do that without being personal, which is rare on here these days.

Oodles, I do accept that there's a great need for us to be more charitable when it comes to things closer to home. It's true that most of us only ever think to dig deep into our pockets at times like this. But not all of us. Most of the home-grown charities have been well established for years, but this is something that is desperately needed right now and we must act. Let's face it........what if the tsunami had hit our shores? Would we all say we're fine about other nations not wanting to help because they have their own people to worry about? I think not.

Happy new year!
