As the title says, am looking for inspiration for valentines day meal. It's the first time in years and years, and leaving out steak as, he cooks it better than I do, just wondering what to do!
I would do a roast chicken with roast veg (butternut squash, red peppers, aubergines, courgettes, red onion) and a raspberry and cream sponge. Simple, but very sexy food. Everyone loves roast and cake, right?

Have hope. It's my first valentines day in 18 years that I'm spending with someone that I'm seeing.
I like the idea of a roast. He's bringing dessert, homemade creme brulee. Yum.
I guess it's each to their own but I'd be a bit disappointed with a roast dinner. I just don't think it's very special. The last two three course meals I've cooked (ignoring dessert as you don't need one) I've done goats cheese mousse with nice crusty bread, red onion marmalade and bacon jam followed by loin of cod wrapped in pancetta with triple cooked chips and samphire. The one before I did crab cakes with a cajun mayonnaise followed by venison steak in a redcurrant cream sauce with dauphinoise potatoes. Everyone really enjoyed them.

And people weren't a bit disappointed with fish & chips?
In the end, I did an Italianish dish.
Chicken and chorizo in a tomato sauce with tagliatelle. He brought one large home made creme brulee, which was on top of a base of slightly cooked strawberries, and we shared that. Washed it down with prosecco and champagne. A lovely meal and evening.
