I have been a fan of Waterloo Road for years now however, I just find this series to put it blunty Awful. WR has lost it's way and has been deteriorating since the move to Scotland. I don't know if the relocation has anything to do with the lack of quality of the show or, WR is running out of ideas and rehashing storylines. Here is a list of the problems it has right now.

Inconsistent storylines
Characters lack development, thought and originality
Boring plots
Terrible continuity
I feel that the show has had it's day and either needs a new vision, storylines that are imaginative or to be completely axed. Compared to older series, it is nowhere near as good as it was before. This upsets me because I know WR has had much better quality storylines before and I enjoyed the show until series 8 part 2. They need to pull something out of the bag and fast otherwise, it is going to be embarrasing to watch and losing what was good about it. Does anyone agree with my points?

I Saw a huge drop after season 5, too many cast changes and the moving school was ridiculous

Indeed! It gets dafter and dafter every week. They also ruined Bolton's character.

Stopped watching as soon as Karen Fisher left. Such a shame as it was unmissable back then. Totally unwatchable now sadly

It's been crap for years now. Shed Productions seem to have a difficult time sustaining quality in their shows. They always seem to start off strong and then descend into uncontrollable madness.

The only show that never fell victim to this pattern was Footballers' Wives; because it started off so unashamedly ridiculous in the first place.

I agree, Why'd they bring him back for that, He shouldn't have bothered, Waterloo Road, isn't Waterloo Road to me anymore, WR was the school in Rochdale, the rough around the edges one, who gave kids from a rough estate a chance, where the Greenock one is prim and proper to me anyway, not the premise WR was created on. I'm done watching WR on a weekly basis once Scout leaves.. May watch when

They should have called it a day before the move up to Scotland.

This series is nothing compared to the Rachel Mason/Karen Fisher days.

I disagree. Whilst it was always OTT, it was really awful in its last couple of series. And not in a so bad it's good way like the first two.

Oh well, I guess I'm in the minority then. I'm quite enjoying it, particularly yesterdays. WR is certainly different to what it used to be but that's to be expected surely?

The move was a bad idea.

I did enjoy Series 8, part A, but I am struggling to even take interest in this series. I think it will be axed after series 9, the show doesn't even get 4 million viewers anymore.

I don't think Waterloo Road has been the same since Karen Fisher left in the first part of series 7. I just cannot warm to Michael Byrne.

Yep, I agree with most of what has been said here. The show just isn't the same since it moved to Scotland. Saying that, last nights episode was easily the best since the Scotland move, but that isn't saying much really..! What I did find bizarre though is Tom apparently told Bolton he was always welcome back, but it is a DIFFERENT SCHOOL. They keep trying to force the idea that it is the same school, yet the only remaining Rochdale pupils are Scout & Harley, as there seems to be a teacher or pupil leaving every week. So far we have had Janeece, Tariq, Josh, Harley and soon to be Chalky, Sian & Scout too.

However, last nights episode was much better paced than other ones. There seemed to be a better community spirit which has been lacking since the move and it was great to have an episode centered around Tom, Grantly & Bolton. What made it for me was the showdown between Grantly & Bolton which was a fantastic scene. Philip Martin Brown is too good for this show now-any scene he is in is 10x better than the rest of the drivel they are churning out.

It was a terrible episode last night imho, but then most of this series has been.

I just wish they would stop this really dull Connor and thingymajig storyline. I do not like the characters and find the will they get back together/wont they get back together extremely boring to watch. I just don't care. He is constantly sulking around and she is just whiny and then from no where "Noooo Conur may be in thur" when the gun fiasco was happening, awful.

I also think the quality of the acting has suffered (bar a few exceptions, mainly in the older cast).

I find i am not interested in the characters other than Scout.

Barry Barry should just Barry off!

At first I thought it was daft that Bolton would go to his old school to get away from the army. A friend or relative' s house would've been more realistic. I then realised it's even dafter because, as another poster pointed out, it wasn't even the school he attended and he hardly knew any of the staff or pupils!

By the way Rihanna was speaking it was like she was at Rochdale but we just never saw her. She does stay in boarding house after all.

I didn't see the episode but I can't believe this happened?
