I have a year old Chorkie and she's forever bringing one of her toys right up to my face but won't let me actually have it. Why does she do it? What is she trying to tell me?
She's just teasing you, having fun, it's a game to her. If it bothers you, you need to make giving up the toy more rewarding, by giving her treats every time she drops it or by giving her another toy of higher value
Mother cats play with their prey in front of the kittens to get them used to the idea of handling prey. Initially they don't let the kittens join in. I read in a Desmond Morris book that he reckons in many ways the cat behaves as a permenant kitten, but in some it treats us as the kitten. I've notice my cat often calls for me, but when I arrive she doesn't want me to play with her but proceeds to play with her toy with me watching.
