Beans seem to go great with a whole variety of food, like scrambled eggs, fried eggs, sausages, chicken, chips etc. Don't you agree?

Never had fish with beans. Sounds most odd to me. I'm assuming we're talking baked beans in tom sauce here?

They're an excellent 'padder-outer'.

They add a bit of moisture too.

Both lovely with beans, thats the only two things I have with beans

I hardly ever eat beans but I like them cold, I have strange kids the eldest wont eat beans at all, and the youngest will only eat them with sausage rolls or toast .. even then thats about a few times a year.

your post brought to mind the playground song...........

beans, beans are good for your heart
the more you eat, the more you fart
the more you fart, the better you feel
beans, beans with every meal

As a chili fanatic, that's an acceptable substitute to kidney beans in a con carne. I do the same on occasion, but only after spicing them up a tad with some full-on hot-sauces and spices.
