For me it has to be snails and frogs legs. I tried them when I went to Jersey for a short break and met, the then partners relatives (her uncle and his French wife).
We were invited to lunch and those were two of the foods on offer. The others were all sea foods such as lobster, crab, mussels and the like. damn it was gross. Thank god for all the free beer. The night ended with her uncles partner getting quite pissed and stripping off as if the food on offer wasn't bad enough. the last thing we wanted to see was a pair of old saggy (@Y@) lol

Andouliette french sausages made from intestines. Unbelievably vile, and I will eat most things.
The smell alone is stomach churning.!!!

Not quite a major food group but the most vile taste I have ever experienced was polio vaccine which my GP put in my mouth without warning - it was so awful i cried.

The humble Turkish Delight beats any strange foreign delicacy I've ever sampled in the 'vile food' stakes.

OP that would be one of my one of my worst food nightmare situations to be in! I don't do seafood at all, I wouldn't even think of making a snail come near my mouth and I think I would have to be paid to consider tasting a well-cooked frog's leg.

Most of the 'vilest' food I've tasted is probably something I do eat but it was undercooked or cooked disgustingly. The only vile food I can recall I tasted that was new to me was gammon. Jeeezzzz it was like tasting a partially cooked block of salt, I couldn't even finish the first mouthful I took and spat it out in a tissue. I wasn't so keen on pork as a whole then and that set the tastebuds back some way.

Squid.

I've yet to eat frog legs, snails, insects, maggots, spiders and the like etc.

Here is one for reading, while tucking into your lunch.

Have to agree, they look like really good meaty sausages, my susicions were aroused when I started cooking them, I thought I'd pissed myself and let it dry on my trousers and just caught a whiff of it (like you do now and again) but not this time it was the Andouliettes.

They smelt like piss and taste what I imagine piss to taste like.

Snails don't really taste of anything other than the garlic butter they are smothered in, but it's just the thought for me the slimeballs!

Any scrambled egg that has some bits of shell in, soon as I find that there is an instant gag reflex and have to leave the rest.

had that in Vienna.... gorgeous. For me pig's snout (complete with stray hairs) in the Basque Country was a bit of a challenge but i'd rather face that again than school custard with the skin on...bleurgh!

Personally, I'd say eel.

I'd probably throw up if I was even offered any of these though:
