Why no pro-logic sound?
I have got the following set up:
Hitachi W/S TV (new - nicam only); old Ferguson (mono) VCR through scart into AV1 of TV Amstrad Digibox through AV1 scart of VCR and then into AV2 of TV Playstation 2 (not through scart but through that other sort of lead that i can't remember the name of!) Optical out lead from PS2 to Sony HTK Amplifier Stereo leads out from TV into Sony HTK Ampliger When I play CDs/ DVDs through the PS2 I get the full Dolby Pro-logic effect through the amps and speakers (and I get DTS / Dolby 5.1 when playing DVDS which carry that). However, I don't seem to get any Dolby Pro-logic effects when watching TV. The exception to this is that I seem to get Dolby Prologic when watching normal terrestial pictures (and not when I switch to AV2 for SKY) Any ideas? Do I lose the stereo sound (which the HTK Amp needs to produce the Pro-Logic sound) as it is going through a mono VCR??? Thanks Landlord |

In most cases yes you do lose the stereo path when going through a mono video. Just tried it here with an old sharp mono video with 2 scarts and I got mono sound too.
Might be a good idea to have the $ky box plugged into your tv and the video plugged into the $ky box then you will get stereo sound from $ky and mono from the vid. |

Landlord,
How are you testing for Dolby Pro-Logic? Are you *sure* you aren't getting it and you just don't need to fiddle with volume balancing?? Not many TV programmes carry *good* DPL effects, The Simpsons is about the best I think... LionelLazenby PS How's Tora Bora?? I'm not pleased you're taking her to Minster Inc when we were supposed to be going to the driving range... |
