They seriously need to reduce the number of categories and awards presented. Some of the categories are just ridiculous and puts mega stars like Beyoncé against relatively unknown stars eg the pointless Best Traditional R&B Performance this year. Of course she was going to win. This makes a lot of the winners blatantly obvious before hand. I like how the Brits only has a small number of categories, hence winning the awards is more of an achievement and not half the nominees go home with some sort of award from a daft category.

I would actually like the BRITS to be more like the Grammy's. None of the awards should be decided by public votes and they really should have some separate genre categories by now. When was the last time an Urban act won the album award for example? Or an album that didn't hit #1? At least with the Mercury music prize you get some decent candidates. It's all too predictable at the BRITS.

As for Beyonce she often wins Grammy's she doesn't deserve but she really did deserve one for Love On Top. Incredible song.

There's actually a lot more categories than are shown on TV and I like that. It isn't called the biggest night in music for nothing. Those other award shows should have limited categories, not the Grammys. That's the time all those awards are appropriate. It's just like the Oscars.

Both are a joke. The Grammys have too many awards and the Brits have too few.

if you look on the Grammy site or online somewhere it might tell you a list of each and every awards given out from the night it`s mental they make sure they cover every category even spoken albums (i think)?

like a few have already said the Brits have too few how come they cut down? Like the Urban/RnB category tbh i`m not sure what they have anymore?

http://www.grammy.com/nominees
i can see 81 winners :O i didn`t know they gave Grammys for music videos too.

There are so many categories I think even I won a Grammy.

In a strange way I prefer the Brits, both are terrible I know buys its the po faced seriousness of the Grammies I can't stand. At least the Brits does not claim to be a prestigious event that is the height of musical achievement.

That's because the Brits aren't and the Grammys were set up to be that way. Whether it's that way now is debateable. The same goes for the Academy Awards. That's why Bieber was so upset and decided to have a live ustream during the Grammy for snubbing him. When you get a Grammy, you are forever known as the Grammy winning artist *insert name here* it's the only music award not voted for by crazy obsessed teenagers, but a board of people many artists want to impress. The Grammys has so many categories because it unites awards for all the different genres. There needs to be a gospel award, a country award, a producer award, etc. It celebrates the hardwork of people in all aspects of the industry, not just top 40 like every other award show that isn't geared to a niche.

I actually feel sorry for the Grammy attendees - they must have to sit in those uncomfortable-looking chairs for hours!

Aren't all awards for things like music, which depends upon individual taste, ultimately pointless.

How can one song be better than another one - it's not a measurable process in any shape or form.

Believe me, I have no desire to give an award to anyone which is voted for my hormone addles tweens, but the record execs are hopelessly out of touch, its about as safe and middle of the road as you can get. I remember when my favorite band won album of the year and many people were shocked because they had never heard of them, to me the fact that it was a shock win sums up the attitude of the grammies, sell enough albums and you will win an award. Its basically industry insiders congratulating each other on making a load of money. Besides, any even that has taylor swift performing and some crazed willy wonka surrounded by dancing idiots is not something I want to be apart of.

Perhaps they're more comfy than they look - Chris Brown seemed quite attached to his when Frank Ocean beat him to an award
