Indeed. If a work PC is that locked down you're pretty stuffed anyway. But you might be able to email yourself a file - which may or may not get you in trouble?

Agreed, my only experience is filebrowser and that let's you use lots of different apps after you have transferred a file

If data transfer is locked down, emailing the data is likely to get you the sack.

I've never worked for a company which allows you to transfer data.

Is it that you're a bit bored with iOS and want to try something new?

If you're going to get apps, consider that a lot of your iPhone apps will work on iPad, whereas you may need to buy them again on a Nexus (if they're paid apps).

Just happened to see the thread title. I just recently got a Nexus 7 as a birthday pressie. As someone who has only recently moved to a smartphone and now confirmed the internet is rubbish on a tiny screen I'm finding the Nexus a revelation. I'm never off it - except now as I'm on the desktop.

I'm a bit overwhelmed with the options for file sharing/cloud and I'm trying out the Ubuntu 1 account and the Google account. I've already started to migrate to Chrome to make use of the bookmark sharing across all my devices. Not sure where i'll settle yet.

Can anyone recommend an AV app for it. Being an Ubuntu man I'd forgotten all about the need for AV.

define what requirements you need for AV ?

For music I use Google Music or N7Player (great interface !!!!)
For video I use Rockplayer 2 or Vplayer

For streaming to/from Android, or even streaming directly from NAS to smartTV I use Skifta

I think they actually meant anti-virus rather than audio/visual.

You could say that about practically every tablet being bigger brothers of phones, as the vast majority of them use the same operating systems as mobile phones.

As it happens I use an iPhone with a Nexus 7, and they cooperate and complement each other pretty well, believe it or not. Tethering, contacts, calendars, syncing etc. all works fine on both. Only problem is the apps being specific to a platform, even though most are available on both.

In general its not required on mobile ... and while in theory its not required on a regular Linux distro, that doesn't explain why A/V solutions are available.

They clearly haven't tried the only decent advice they'll actually get on here yet, otherwise they would have probably made their mind up by now. Or at least have asked further questions.

I'm thinking this is a wind up thread, keep coming back asking the same bloody question again and again!

I actually bought one of those last week and it outperforms both the ipad mini and the Nexus 7, the fact it comes in pink is the icing on the cake.
