![]() Still think Martine should have paid her tax bill when she had the money (like the rest of us have to!!) - and she must have had the money to have run up a bill so high. No sympathy from me on that score. |

"So touched..." Oh, if only...had Martine read these comments here, she wouldn't be feeling the same. |

There's an article in the on line mail as well, she gets very little sympathy there either. She should be ashamed and pay up and shut up, after all we all have to. My OH is not on PAYE and has to make sure he has enough in his account to pay his tax bill.

I thought when you were bankrupt you had to avoid credit, business etc for FIVE YEARS not just one year? If it is only ONE YEAR perhaps we should all go bankrupt, seems easier than actually having to pay your debts and be responsible. Go mad on the credit card, have fun and then say sorry, have to declare myself bankrupt!!! There is obviously no shame in it anymore.

Oh DO TELL!! I hate all this Hollywood nonsense of how everyone gets on fabulously well in all these productions, movies etc when we all know half of the "she was marvelous" stories are absolute rubbish!!!

As for Martine, that level of financial mismanagement sickens me. I used to deal with it on a daily basis, so my empathy always went to the people who'd lost their job, or they'd split with a partner, and not some spoilt idiot who thought designer shoes were more important than their mortgage or tax bill. |

A friend of mine saw her in My Fair Lady and said she was dreadful. Unfortunately there's been a massive dumbing down of the theatre over the last ten years or so with this increasing trend to cast talentless ex soapies in West End shows not because they're any good but to get soap fans' bums on seats.

David Cameron said it was "morally wrong" of Jimmy Carr to pay 1% income tax. It would appear Martine paid 0%. Come on, 'Dave', call her out.

This seems more like a publicity stunt with the sympathy trip coming out. I have not seen many celebrities trying to publicise there Bankruptcy.

I wonder how often celebs managers (management companies)
take their commission before giving their clients sound financial advice and support. They must know their earning better than the celebs and should put taxes before their commission. |

Seconded. She should think herself lucky she was able to make such a good living from the profession for as long as she did with absolutely ZERO talent. Playing a couple of tea ladies and the victim of a vicious cheese assault over the last ten years is hardly a career.

Sting got stung to the tune of £4.8m by his personal accountant, who made unknown investmestments. I don't believe that happened in this case but a number of celebs and Kerry Katonna seem to have had trouble paying their tax in recent times. |

I think Jonathon Price who played opposite her in my fair lady was very vocal at the time about what a drama queen she was.

Exactly. 'Work with Martine again. I think not'. Jonathan Pryce interview http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/t...think-not.html Sir Cameron criticises 'hysterical' McCutcheon http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/ukne...cCutcheon.html And someone else who doesn't like her much. She's mentioned at 1.40 ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5EkmHwYx_Q |

![]() ![]() I have to say, no way on earth was Martine's novel ghost written as no ghost writer wouldve written that badly!! It was excruciatingly bad! ![]() ![]() I suspect we'll see her do the rounds of IACGMOOH and Strictly in the next couple of years. I think her showbiz career is irredeemably over now |

With regard to the Olivier Award, this was more in recognition of the commercial success of the show rather than any talent demonstrated by La McCutcheon. Jonathan Pryce's look of disgust and dismay when she won the award is more typical of the views held by genuine theatre folk. |

Doesn't bankruptcy mean they have to sell property, cars etc to pay off the debt?

There is obviously no shame in it anymore.
